What did your grandparents do for a living?

On my mothers side they were farmers in Richland parish(Mom showed me a pic of my grandpaw bear hunting w/Teddy Roosevelt in the Tensaw Swamp in 1906)
On daddys side, pawpaw gathered fat pine and sold to the pipeline crews to heat and bend pipe around a tree, and lived off the land.

Maternal - founder of Southern Scrap.
Paternal - owner of Cypress Mill and Oakbluff Plantation.

Mom's side, granddaddy had a nut and bolt business and traveled a route servicing bins and selling from when he got home after WW2 until he retired at 70. Grandmother was a head start teacher.

Dad's side, my granddaddy was a pharmacist, and my grandmother was a bank teller.

Dad's father was a cotton farmer in W TN. He was a hard man and wound up making a lot of money. Mom's father worked for TVA in MS/AL. He also played pro baseball before fighting in WWII. Great man who taught me most of what I know about the outdoors. Retired to Pickwick Lake and fished & hunted the rest of his days.

My Grandpa on my mothers side was part owner of Dixie Beer and owned a slaughter house in Mississippi. My Grandpa on my fathers side worked at Kaiser Aluminum in Chalmette for 30 years

Mother's side - grandfather was a wild life and fishery agent.
Father's side - grandfather was a farmer.

Grandfather - owned a NAPA parts store
Grandmother - worked for Cooper Lighting


Paternal:

One owned a rigging business on the river in New Orleans. The other was an engineer for Mobil

Both grandmas didn't work

Both my maw maws stayed at home.

One grandpaw was a operator/superintendent at a chem plant

Other was a barber, landlord, business owner, and a bunch of other stiff

moms side: paw paw was an operator at one of the local plants and maw maw worked for an insurance agent for a bit

dads side: paw paw sold insurance (not the same company as the other side of my family) and maw maw owned and operated a day care out of their house

mom's side - grandfather had a restaurant business for a long time then left that for industry where he retired (he also worked on outboard motors on the side out of his house)

dad's side - grandfather (from bama) was in the navy where he went to pearl harbor a week after the japanese hit (i have his USN issued knife) then moved to LA where he worked for a telephone company then retired

i don't think either one of my grandmothers worked much

Dads folks worked for Maw bell, and moms mom was a stay at home wife/mother and her dad was a handyman/jack of all trades

dad's side grandfather was a gas company executive/engineer

My papaw played football for Neville High till he was 24. Then he got a job at the railroad and spent 45 years there. His wife was a stay at home mom/ part time butcher.


My Poppa ran LTI which was a school for misfits in Monroe. He later became the head of the Monroe City school board for many years. His wife was a nurse.

Grandfather - WW2 veteran/mail man
Grandmother - Housewife

Paternal:
Grandfather - car dealership manager
Grandmother - died when I was 2..no clue

Paternal - Draftsman for the COE; fished, trawled and gardened like a mofo. Homemaker/Church Librarian.

Maternal - Civil Engineer (Designed North and South Stadium dorms). Homemaker who never learned to drive until one of my aunts refused to get on a school bus.
