I was just thinking. I remember several years ago me and this other guy (older than me) were cleaning squirrels and I accidentally cut him. It wasn't bad at all, but he kept asking me if it was a newer knife, because if so he was going to rush to the hospital. I didn't want to tell him the truth that I had bought the knife the day before and cause a scene, so I told him I got it for Christmas the year before. Does anybody know why he was so adamant about the age of the knife? I haven't seen the guy since fwiw

Never heard of this.

I've always heard it's worse to cut yourself with a dull knife. Something about more pressure/force being used.

Sorry for your guilt.

Take 6 shots of whiskey per day until it goes away.

I don't feel guilty. The question was to see if someone knew of a poisonous chemical that exists on newer blades that would warrant concern if they were to be cut. I just assume the guy died from natural, overweight causes.

I was raised to believe that it was bad to cut another person with a knife regardless of if it was a new knife, old knife, or butter knife.

Yes, in today's litigious society it is ok for knife makers to sell a product that is covered with poison.

I would say an electric one so that after you pass out from lost of blood it can still continue on it's own to finish the job!

I don't have any exact details, but I think some just believe a new knife is bad luck as opposed to one your Pow Pow gives you that he has had for a long time.

As to the poison on new blades question...

I never consider a new knife truly mime until it does cut me. It's a miracle that I haven't been poisoned yet.
