Thread was probably done several times over the weekend, but it isn't like I am robbing the first page of the MSB of an interesting topic.

How about a celebrity dunk contest filled with mostly athletes from other sports (mostly the nfl I suspect)?

Wouldn't a contest with Usain Bolt, Cam Newton, Calvin Johnson, etc. be more entertaining?

What are some other ideas and who are some other "celebrities" you would like to see my version of the dunk contest?

Give LBJ and other athletic guys a bonus if they play in the Dunk contest..the top guys in the NBA should do this year after year.....its a show for the NBA and if they put on a shitty show it shows how much effort they put in it.

The dunk contest needs to go away, keep the 3 point shootout, skills challenge, and celebrity games...maybe even add a celebrity 3 point contest or something

no...hell no

the problem is guys have to do such advanced dunks now b/c we're tired of easy dunks. celebs would only do easy dunks

I think they should raise the goal for the dunk contest.

But it would be more entertaining watching celebs try to out do each other with easy dunks than what the guys do now.

You would have the star power and the added element of guys doing something you don't ever see them do.

the dunk contest is a showcase for young talent in the NBA to give it a showcase for a national audience

people said that in the mid-90s (and it was a lot shittier then than it is now). they took 2 years off and it was all good again

I'm sure the Panthers and Lions front office would be thrilled about that.

the dunk contest has become more interesting to me for its psychological effects than the actual contest

it's a great example of how people's memory fails them and they overrate the past

The whole "fixing" the dunk contest is overblown.

The fact is it's just a matter of hoping the guys competing make their dunks.

This years dunk contest would have really good had those guys in the first round made all of their attempts on the first try. Missing multiple times just destroys the excitement. At the same time, if the NBA eliminated the 1:30 time limit and only gave them 2 chances, then most of the guys this year wouldn't have successfully gotten down a single dunk which would have really sucked.

IMO it's just a matter of the guys executing on the first try.

indeed, hard for people to separate their confirmation biases from reality.
