| John Curtis and LSU (Posted on 2/6/13 at 2:59 pm)
I have heard that the coach at JC hates LSU and tells all of his players to go other places. I have noticed that one of there players is coming ot LSU. I don't really know who their top players are and who has come to LSU in the past. My simple question what players are on the current roster who are from JC and were there any successful players at LSU who came from JC. more complex do you think the limited number of people coming from JC will continue in the future or will change for our favor. Also what players who didn't pick LSU from JC had at-least a good college career.

outside of Joe McKnight, I am hard pressed to think of a player we really wanted who went elsewhere

Yeha I remember C Stewart being a 4 star and coming to LSU. Also we ahd a Kicker from Curtis....I think that rumor started with Joe Mcknight and it was centered around JC not getting a job on the staff at the time and he was mad at LSU. I am not sure this is true or not. BUt I hope not. Quality feeder school.

I don't spend much time on the rant or the recruiting board, if you are tired of discussing it I won't discuss it. I was just interested.

JT is not a fan of LSU. I believe this is related to Johnny Curtis not getting a scholarhisp when Arnsparger or Archer was the head coach.Johnny ended up at Miss. St. I think we want Young and possibly Dupre next year; if we get them fine, if not, c'est la vie.

JT shows no preference. I know the family personally as documented on here before. I've talked to JT about a lot of things including football. "Hating" LSU has never been something I've gotten from our discussions. As a matter of fact he has talked to me on Sundays before church about almost every LSU game. Good and bad points. He is close with Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher though. Take that how you want.

I went to school with J. T. and my nephew is in the 8th grade, fast as lightning, can run and throw. He would never try and control a young man, he is a good teacher in and out of the classroom. Remember when he was offered an asst. coaching job with LSU.

LSU had to get Riley this year because we needed a connection with JC players next year.

I don't know the names or numbers but it seems to me that a lot of their players go to Tulane type FBS schools or FCS schools like Nicholls, Southeastern, etc... They have their big recruits too obviously.

Don't take anything away from Duke. Kid is a helluva player. Worked hard and earned it. Very instinctive LB. I was in JT's office once and met a tall lanky kid. JT said afterwards "That kid is a special talent." Turns out it was Malachi Dupre. I would imagine it would take a lot for him to say something like that about a player.

That is true, originating from Saban's tenure at LSU. I've heard this rumor and have a hard time believing it. At the same time, I don't think that JC is an automatic pipeline to LSU, Bama or FSU. From what I know, JC first and foremost is committed to winning their own games over selling their players to college. It's fairly common knowledge that JC generally is more of a system oriented program than one that builds around a particular athlete(s). That may change a little if an exceptional player (McKnight, Dupre) is around. But their success at producing impact players in college is far less than their on the field success as a program. That's not knocking the program at all. In fact, it's a testament to a true team-first concept. In that light I think they do produce well disciplined players who will thrive under the right college coaching. But I do think that Riley is a hidden gem and it doesn't hurt he comes from Curtis. CLM and FW would be wise to show their face regularly around there.....
