| Anyone eat Paleo? (Posted on 2/6/13 at 1:15 pm)
I already Crossfit and had to increase my protein in order to get enough food before getting full. Thinking of trying to do it right for Lent and see how it goes. Thoughts? Recipes? Suggestions?

I eat mostly paleo. A little cheese here and there. I really enjoy it.

one of the easiest paleo recipes: boston butt (bone in) just enough crab boil to cover the bottom of the crock pot put on high for 1 hr and then low for 4-5 (bone will come right out when finished) drain juice and pull apart eat

Got one, and pinned some. So far unless it's a basic meat-veggie type dish, looks like I'll need to go buy some specific ingredients. Like coconut oil, almond flour, etc. Is that like a Whole Foods-only type thing?

all of this can be found at Rouses in the organic isles but be prepared to pay out the ass. If you eat paleo your grocery bill will go WAY up. there are a ton of good paleo recipes you can do. My go to lunch meal was chicken salad but I had to make my own mayo (very easy) I did this diet called whole 30 (around $45 for the book) whole 30 I completely changed my eating habits and still cook some of the recipes from the book. ( I lost 12 lbs in 30 days doing nothing but eating what they tell me) (I am 27 6'2" and weighed 190lb at the time)

Dang. I definitely don't want to lose much weight. I have already paid to have my wedding dress altered for May. And I live in Memphis, no Rouse's here. Not planning to do the whole grass-fed beef or anything. Plain cow is fine for me.

I lost mainly belly fat. It was awesome. 1 thing about this diet is you get a different "full" feeling. It is not like the carb "full". It takes a little bit used to but it will keep the weight controlled much better than just working out.

I don't do Paleo but thought about it. And have a few friends who do and love it. I did get a few websites from them but the only one I remember off the top of my head is Paleo Pot. It's all crock pot paleo recipe's. Once I get home I'll gather the other one or two and post.

You feel satiated, not bloated. When I first kicked carbs, I didn't like it. Now when I eat carbs, I hate the way I feel afterwards.

+1. Now my stomach does not agree with excess carbs

How long did it take? Like if I make it through lent with the 80-20 I probably won't go back? I think the hardest things to kick will be cheese and desserts. Seems like there is a good substitute for dessert, but the thought of an omelet without cheese makes me sad. Maybe it will be my 20!

I did not eat 1 single carb (outside of fruit and veggies) for 1 month and day 31 i ate some pizza and had the worst stomach ache. It still happens to this day (about months later). Now when I eat a lot of carbs (pizza, fried chicken etc) I have the coffee poops(I know TMI)

Frankly, I still each cheese sometimes. I usually say I follow a mostly-paleo or paleo-esque diet, because I still have some cheese. Not much, but some. I haven't found it negatively impacts me in any way.

I don't eat much carbs and I don't eat much processed foods, and I never want to get to the point that I'm sick if I do . I'd be missing out on too much good stuff.

From what I know you probably are technically all Paleo. It's 80% of the time no dairy/wheat/sugar, but then there's the 20%. I guess that accounts for beer.

Can we just say good carbs and bad carbs? Carbs are not all bad. It's the white stuff that's bad- sugar, white flour, white bread, white rice, white pasta, white potatoes, and stay away from corn.

Browns are bad too. Not nearly as bad and they have benefits to them but they are still bad.
