re: Anyone eat Paleo?

Weight, strength, sleep patterns, alertness, etc. all need to be factored...

Done. I use the Sleep Time app on my iPhone as my alarm, so I've got plenty of data on my sleep efficiency to start with. If you start using it now you'll have a week of data to compare before.

For the other stuff, let's try these benchmarks:
1. Weight in pounds
2. Strength - how much can you deadlift, how many consecutive pull-ups, (any other suggestions for this? How do you work out now?)
3. Waist size in inches
4. I would say BMI but that's such an inaccurate measure. How do you figure out your body fat %? That would be a good one.

We should also take note if we get sick more often and I hate to say this but "movements" wouldn't be a bad idea to note either.

re: Anyone eat Paleo?
I think I've got a decent menu made so I can avoid eating lentils, soy and most grains.

Ezekiel bread
Almond butter
Almond milk
almonds
sweet potatoes
berries
some types of beans that go well with my blood type
brown rice
tons of veggies.

I know by eating this type of diet I'm not really following the vegan diet of soy and all that other crap. However, it is a good starting point and I think will be much healthier than eating the crap you can eat on the traditional vegan diet. I'm mainly interested about the no meat no fish thing anyway. If this works well I'll try to introduce fish after lent and see how it goes.

Oh sickness would be nice, especially with allergy season about to wreak havoc.

What do you mean by movements?

Also, re: body fat percentage. I found this website, but would you rather legit do it with a caliper? LINK

re: Anyone eat Paleo?
I'll go ahead and list all my stuff right now because after the gallons of booze and punds of king cake and po'boys I will be consuming this weekend, it won't be an accurate read.

Weight: 178# (will double check tonight to be certain)
Strength: I currently am doing the body by fitness workout. Basically I do 5 lifts, 1 set each, extremely slow and never stop or lock out.
Row Machine: 100# each arm for roughly 85 seconds
Bench Machine: 235# for roughly 80 seconds
Chin Ups: BW for 72 seconds
Military Press: 35# each hand for 89 seconds
Leg Press: 410# for 85 seconds.

I'll double check all of this when I get home.

Waist 32"

I agree BMI is crap so I'll just take note of the definition I have right now and then after.

I also want to add that since my wedding 5 weeks ago I have been eating paleo 3-4 days a week and destroying food and booze the other days so I'm a little out of shape in comparison to where I was before the B-party.

re: Anyone eat Paleo?
Based on this definition:
quote:

Centered on commonly available modern foods, the "contemporary" Paleolithic diet consists mainly of fish, grass-fed pasture raised meats, eggs, vegetables, fruit, fungi, roots, and nuts, and excludes grains, legumes, dairy products, potatoes, refined salt, refined sugar, and processed oils.[

I am mostly Paleo. I exclude grains, legumes, potatoes, refined salt and sugar. BUT I do include cheese and olive oil. Lost 20 pounds from Jan-July of last year. I just started back this January and I am including exercise this time around. Quitting bread, pasta and sweets was hard at first, but now I am kinda disgusted looking at it if it's in front of me. My only weakness that I still crave is chocolate, but I found some atkins bars that are 3 carbs and pretty damn good. I like not looking all belly bloated from carbs too.

re: Anyone eat Paleo?
It won't be accurate and the calipers will still have an error to them.

Movements: Frequency, magnitude and consistency of dumps. Gross yes, but very telling of how your body is getting along on the inside.

OK. I don't own a scale but I can see if a friend has one so I can double-check my weight. I actually expect to gain muscle...

Height: 5'3"
Weight: 115(ish...can check on a friend's scale)
Strength: Deadlift 105# PR, front squat 110# PR, clean/jerk 75# PR
Pull-ups: I can kip with the medium band, dead hang with a small band
Endurance: 50 burpee time is 4:26
Waist: need to measure at home

Also - I'll cut dairy in general, but will still allow myself some cheese in my eggs.

I have my wedding in May and if I have to alter my dress again I'm going to be pissed.

re: Anyone eat Paleo?
What diet are you currently on?

Also, try to stick to lean meats, berries for fruit, veggies, olive oil, and healthy nuts. Almonds are best but just google search it and they will give you ideas.

I am on no diet. I have increased my protein and decreased my starches just because I wasn't getting enough food when I started crossfit and it was negatively affecting me in other ways besides working out.

I've started to eat a little "more paleo" because my fiance' is doing it. But by more paleo I just eat the meat-veggie-veggie supper he cooks and then follow it up with ice cream.

I'm going to miss ice cream.

re: Anyone eat Paleo?
Also, I'll just have to spend some time in a grocery store this weekend stocking on coconut milk/oil, almond milk and such. And almond flour. Where does that even come from?

re: Anyone eat Paleo?
Whole foods and I don't even use it. I usually have a beanless chili or something for lunch with grapes, snack on carrots and almonds, burger patty with mushroom onion almond milk gravy for dinner. Fried or scrambled eggs for another meal... Things like that.

Lent skips Sundays in that 40 count, so it's more like 45...

re: Anyone eat Paleo?
May I butt in and offer a suggestion to try these noodles? I've seen different opinions on whether or not it's paleo, but y'all can research that aspect if you're interested.

If you prepare them properly (plenty of rinsing ... you won't like the smell when you open the package) you might really enjoy them. I do.

Info about what they are.

re: Anyone eat Paleo?
They could probably fly with little impact on a person but it doesn't change the fact that they aren't "natural" making them non-paleo.

re: Anyone eat Paleo?
There are two kinds, one of which is tofu. Seems natural?
