So go to the ones that you enjoy. It really pisses you off that much that more festivals exist? Obviously there's enough demand to go around. If the market's oversaturated, then they'll go away.

My only problem with festivals is that it makes it less likely some bands will come by and do a club show. With so many bands coming to Austin for ACL, it means that it becomes harder for Dallas to get those acts to come and play here. Touring bands don't tend to make two trips to Texas. So, for me, it means less good, smaller shows in my home city.

That said, I like that there's a renewed interest in people going to see live music. Hopefully, people will discover bands they didn't know or maybe catch the live music bug. It's a nice starter, and a good way to see bands I sort of like but wouldn't probably see on their own tour. More music is always a good thing.

That makes no sense. When bands tour, they usually hit up cities close together that will pull in a decent crowd. Why would a band not want to play a show in Dallas, before or after ACL? Now that ACL is two weekends, it is even more likely that these bands will play more shows in nearby cities in the week in between.

I was thinking of this thread yesterday... Does every city fricking have one now?

Anyway, I'm retired from festival going for the most part...

Or an arena show. I've missed out on a lot of my favorites the last few years due to Voodoo booking such overall terrible lineups.

You could argue that the success these 3 have enjoyed can be traced back to the increasing amount of festivals

Not a bad thing... But there is an over saturation in my opinion that takes the "special" factor away... It seems 90% of them you just change the name and rearrange the order of participants...

I don't lose sleep over it...

And again, I'm semi-retired but most of that is due to my age and most lineups are 85% filler crap...

I don't give a shite what anyone else says, The Black Keys are a fricking boring live show

I'm not sure I've sat through their whole set at any festival I've been to, which is a lot of sets considering they have played literally every single festival in America since about 2008

But you give me some drugs and I'll rage a Bassnectar or Pretty Lights show hard

I concur. I'd much rather see jack white.
