Friends of mine are headed to New Orleans in a couple of weeks. They said they saw Anthony Bourdain on the tube eating crabs at a crab shack on the lake that was destroyed by Isaac? (that's what they said) They wanted know if I knew of any crab shack like place on the lake they could go to. Outside of Middendorf's (and I don't realy condider it a crab shack), I'm drawing a blank. Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks

Joe's Crab Shack

I kid. I'd send them to the Plywood Mall in Westwego and just pick up some from Katie's place.

Trolltastic!!! I miss SidMars at the lake. I knew they wouldn't make it in any other location.

Bourdain's now-gone place was the Crab Trap, which (was) in the parking lot of the more-showier (and less-tastier, IMO) Frenier Landing.

Have you ever been to the Plywood Mall? I'm not sure of the name of it.

Outdoor seafood market? If so, I love that description. Yes, I know some of the people selling stuff there. I do a lot of business with commercial fishermen.

That's the place. And I like to stop in the Piggly Wiggly to get some beer to go with the crab.

It's known as the "Shrimp Lots" over here in God's County.

Also, you can always check out Salvo's Seafood in Belle Chasse. Local seafood market that serves food as well.

Pier 51 Seafood Restaurant in LaPlace

Reviews of the place are all over the place so not sure of the quality. Right on the Lake you would think it would be great seafood.
