you win, sort of. I didn't keep up with the thread. But, you didn't answer the question either, counselor...or did you?

No, you didn't keep up with the thread or maybe your reading comprehension is impaired this time of night.

Not that it matters to Martini in this thread, but I like Clancy's fine. It's not among my favorites in New Orleans, but it's fine. Here's my review from the Dining Guide in case you've forgotten what I wrote.

quote:

Ate there on a Friday night. Table wasn't ready upon arrival and we had reservations. Probably spent 20 minutes in the small bar waiting. Took a long time for drinks and an inordinate amount of time between courses. Enjoyed the food very much, though. However, I didn't care for the oysters and brie app that so many people rave over. The brie overpowered the oysters. The oysters were delicious and fried just right, for me. I picked off the cheese. Had a soft shell crab dish that was excellent. Lemon ice box pie is the best I've ever had.

Brie sucks. You are correct, as always, GG. And I really do hate Brie...waste of stomach space...why'd you order it anyways?

I like brie. I don't like a ton of it on that dish and, in fact, I didn't really like the dish with the exception of the excellently fried oysters and the spinach. The old Uglesich's oyster blue cheese app far surpasses the Clancy's app for my taste, but other folks seem to go ga ga over the Clancy's app. I don't get it myself.

The rest of the food was very good. The service would have ruined the evening had it not been for the food, but it's still not among my personal favorites. My Mom, on the other hand, loves it, but even she wasn't high on going back any time soon and not for dinner, for sure. She prefers lunch there.

I have said over and over and no one takes my adevice on this dish. Order it with light brie. When will people finally listen?

I doubt I would order or again. If I do, I'll get no Brie. It doesn't go with the oysters and its missing a sharp flavor to balance the spinach and Brie for my taste.

Sweetbreads
Shrimp Remoulade
Crab salad

All better apps than oysters and brie.

No doubt though the oysters themselves are done well.

Execution at Clancy's is never an issue. They also have the most reasonably priced, and one of the deepest wine lists in town.

Moscas? Jesus I'd have to eat at Dick and Jenny's just to make it all the way to LaPalco. I save that for my wife and my Westbank friends. I do like the roasted chicken and I think they have the best old time spaghetti and meatballs on the planet.

Can you fully ask the question in your subject, instead of cutting it off?
