I disagree with this because I think it lessens the state title, but the private schools do have a distinct advantage.

But then, I'm the kind of guy who would work hard to beat an opponent regardless of whether or not I thought I was at a disadvantage. Creating a separate division just to give myself a better chance to win is just spineless.

The hell it is. It's about time some changes were made. How is a public school that has to rely on players that live within it's district supposed to compete with those who can select the best athletes? John Curtis has been to the title game 17 yrs straight and a few years ago Evangel with a 1A enrollment was thrashing West Monroe with a 5A enrollment every year in the Dome. Explain to me how it's bullshite that the playing field has finally been leveled?

Gerrymandering the districts, administering waivers to students that live outside the zones (that happened to be athletes), allowing some student-athletes to use phony addresses within the school's district.

By that logic, it devalues the trophy by having different size classifications. There's absolutely nothing wrong with leveling the playing field. You can argue that this wasn't the right way to do it, but the privates, and specifically three or four privates, were playing by a different set of rules that made the efforts of all the other schools irrelevant.

All the planets converge, you get once in a lifetime talent and make a run at the playoffs? Doesn't matter, because there are a couple of schools in your classification that are on a different plane. Play an absolute perfect game and you may stay within three touchdowns, because they're playing with a different deck. It ain't being a pussy to think that system stinks.
