"The private schools have an advantage, its unfair" is such bullshite. It's a few schools. The rest of the private schools are getting their shite pushed in just as much, if not more because it's harder to get low income athletes to go to a school with a tuition. Now the private school championship will be a joke with a few teams just destroying everyone year in and out.
This.

There are a couple private schools who don't exactly play by the rules that everyone else does, and now every private school is paying for it.

What schools does everyone assume "recruits" players? I'm thinking Curtis, Evangel, and maybe Parkview.

My alma mater Notre Dame without a doubt does not recruit. I think only one kid in the previous 4 years got a scholly to play college ball.

This is the end of the OCS run. They will now have to go up against Evangel and Curtis. OCS does not recruit at all. They just have kids who play together from tackle 1 till they graduate high school.

No they won't. Evangel and Curtis are in 3A and will play in the upper tourney. No one else in 2A is scary...maybe Uhigh.

So it's just a coincidence that the most athletically gifted players end up there instead of St. Fred's or River Oaks?

JJ, how long do you think it will be before we see WM make the jump over to the select side?

I attended OCS is the 90s. Nobody on our team was recrutied. As a matter of fact, two of our best players left for WM. The difference is that the kids play football together from 7 years old on. My nephew plays there now and played with the same kids for 7 years and he is only 14.

OCS has made moves on WM players the last 2 years. For the most part, they're homegrown though.

Idk, can you just choose to play Select? WM has had more trouble with 3-5A than any private school not named Evangel. Even beat Curtis 26-7 the one time they played.

And WM doesn't recruit? How did Brady James end up there? I know OCS use to use the 8s rule. For the most part they just run the same system form 6th grade up. That's what we did at St Fred. I know they even had a kid transfer from SFHS to WM just for football.

When you have a strong program kids will want to go there.

They have more schools statewide than those 3 that recruit. In defense of Parkview every stud "recruited" athlete is expected to pay full tuition with no work study/tuition assistance. Some schools that recruit are in metro areas where public school talent is readily available. Many of these inner city public school kids come from tough socio-economic backgrounds and the high schools they would attend aren't the best. I know this has been happening in Baton Rouge recently and Parkview isn't the one bringing this talent in.

OCS takes its stregnth and conditioning program very seriously from 6th grade on. Also they have a very serious middle school program and these kids play together and work together from 6th grade on with coaches who are on board with the over all goal. For the most part thats how curtis and Evangel do it too. OCS does not recruit. They get recruited from-Whitworth among others were at OCS up until high school then got recruited to WM. Wait public schools dont recruit thats how Bradie James went to Carrol until his Junior year then ends up at WM

Who would you rather play for: Wossman or a West Monroe team, who at the time, was in the hunt for national titles?

It's not all recruiting ... Often its the program selling itself.

DJ Banks, who lived in WM the entire time he went to SF. I guarantee you he came to WM because Saban told him he needed to be there instead of SF.

No question but a D1 blue chip guy moves from across the river from a school that has zero resources to a public school with unlimited resources is instantly eligible his senior year yet private schools are the bad guys? I mean come on.

Yeah, it's kinda obvious that WM could be accused of recruiting as well.

As if public schools don't recruit. Go see how Billy Cannon wound up at Istrouma.

You don't have to go that far back. Go see how Bradie James got to West Monroe.

BTW, I know people here in Metro Atlanta who faked leases to get their kid in the right school for football. Happens everywhere.

Bradie James

It's been 15 years. He came to a WM team that won back to back titles and returned 17 starters and had 15 kids on that team sign D1. WM walks to a title that year without him. Let it go.
