Are all instructions for computer parts as vague as mine?

I'll admit to being a severe novice to this but I have done a build before. First I was surprised to see that the motherboard instructions didn't even tell you to install the brass risers. Good thing I remembered this. If I wasn't one step from a complete first timer I would have fried my board. Not one bit of instruction on what to plug into what. Some plugs are obvious and others I've had to use the process of elimination. Why not tell them which connection goes into the Com 1 header? That is all for my amateur bitching.

My MOBO came with some clear instructions though I didn't read them outside of wiring up my power button and stuff.

No, I do not. I'm not one of those people who knew what to do before even thinking about building a computer.

Do you know why brass is used between the MOBO and case?

Seriously.

You are probably wondering where the HDD/Power LED header is and +/-

There should be a diagram somewhere in the booklet. Pretty simple and straight forward. Almost every MOBO has the exact same layout so once you put one together you can put them all together.

What components did you purchase for the build?

he will soon though. To OP there are no "instructions" aside from build vids and guides on youtube. If you have any questions not answered in those let us know and we can probably help you out.

The case can conduct a current and brass is a poor conductor. It also helps with static electricity. Correct?

This.

The "collective knowledge" of the internet is greater than any instruction manual.

Pretty sure they act as a ground for the mobo.

right. if you didn't use the motherboard standoffs, your motherboard would short out every time you ran power to it. don't know about the whole static electricity thing.

The diagram does help with most but a couple were not as obvious to someone as new to this as I am. I am using an Asrock z77 Pro 3 board. Do the HD Audio and AC97 connectors serve the same purpose? They only have one spot that they can go and it is labeled HD Audio. They are almost directly attached so I am assuming that I only need one.

Yes, I've been using this to get me by. Unfortunately the only videos I have found with my specific board have just been unboxing videos. A couple videos I have found where they actually do a build skip past the parts that I need.

No bro..

Brass is like 60% copper.

ETA:

1/2 right, but it grounds the layers of the motherboard to the case. Everything in your case is grounded.

The case rarely comes with any instructions, but its not hard to tell wires go where.

Coyote, I'm about to surprise you with my new build. Hopefully will have it finished this weekend or early next week

Puff I didn't send out your H80 until today. Had my GF bring it to OfficeDepot to ship. I have NO excuses except for being lazy and a new job.

It doesn't seem overly hard but someone could take the time and be a bit more detailed. Maybe they could have gotten rid of the page that is in Swahili. Hell, it might be harder to find the page that is in English in this particular book.
