re: Obama Predictions for Tomorrow?

Yeah, there is no way for them to tell who has what. If I had gotten presents and hand-me-downs they have no way of being tracked. If I had bought from friends too. Most of my friends and family don't know what I could have, so how would the government know what to make me give up if I had anything?

I am predicting Sound and Fury Signifying Nothing.
Congressmen love being in Congress. Unless they are in a 100% district like Sheila Jackson Lee...they aren't touching that legislation.
If he attempts to EO something and circumvent the Constitution and Congress, well that will be akin to Napoleon taking the crown and placing it upon his head in my opinion.

While I hope you are right about that legislation, I think people are seriously underestimating the support he will receive from some Republicans.
But the executive orders he plans on using are really nothing to do with gun control. I don't think the EOs that have been talked about are really that significant at all.

Weren't all three of the guns that the killer brought into school illegal at that time. Killers will do whatever it takes to carryout whatever bad deed they want to do. They will still get the illegal guns whenever they want. They can't keep drugs off the street but they gonna make gun laws stiffer. These new laws will matter for little time if at all then things will go back to the way they are now

Import ban
Something akin to NY announcement(turn over hi-cap mags); he will say "it is the responsible thing to do"
More stringent background checks
"gun show loophole" whatever that is
Killing children speech.....
Hands of criminals
I'll be in and out of meetings all day. Somebody needs to start a press conference in-game thread.

Likely that will have immediate consequences:
Banning some importation of firearms and components
Banning importation of ammo
Stopping the practice of mil-surplus brass sales as non-scrap
Increase the waiting time of NICS checks
Expand the background check system
Stop or limit online ammo sales.
Some "Tax" on ammo with proceeds going to expand mental health
Likely that will probably quickly get struck down:
Banning 10+ cap mags
Prevent transfer of certain weapons
Moratorium on Certain weapons sales/manufacture (AR15s and maybe some handguns)
Likely that will probably end up being a law at some point:
Require all gun sales to go through background check.
Banning some Military style weapon (.50 rifles, et al)
Things I don't think get included:
Ammo sales through FFL
Semi-auto Handgun ban
Confiscation
Less than 10+ rd mag capacities (ie NY BS)
Limit on yearly ammo purchases (like in Europe)
Reloading regulations

Yeh but if they would get their way they would simply put something in place like....every AR style gun must be registered in order for it to be legal. If you are caught with an unregistered AR style gun then it's (something crazy) like 25 years in jail. Most people (the good guys anyway) are not willing to leave their wife and kid behind to go to jail for 25 years. Them low and behold 5 years later after they have the list of owners...then a law gets past saying to turn them in or you get 25 years.
Hard to believe it would ever come to that but it has in other places and if they had their way, it would here too.
