Anyone ever duck hunted Kincaid Lake or Cotile Lake near Alexandria? Going camping after Christmas with the family and wondered if I should bring the gun and kayak. Had one response on LA Sportsman about scaup in the main lake.

I would never try that. Maybe woodies in the very back of the creeks.

I have seen a lot of people hunting it, never have personally, though I have seen many a duck out there. It's my primary fall/ winter place to fish.

ET: Kincaid that is.

I grew up on Kincaid Lake and I think that's a fricked up idea.

Cotile if at all.

Fricked up becuase there are no ducks or fricked up for some other reason? Figured it is a lake with some small water areas in the back ends. Got to be some woodies in there.

you might be able to get to the back area that borders Kisatchie and shoot some woodies.

I've done it once or twice, never any real success

Cotile is too populated

How hard would it be to hunt Catahoula from a kayak?

if you're looking for a place in central la to try w/ a kayak, then you probably need to hit dewey wills wma. Get a map, head out 28 east, and start scouting. you should aleast be able to find some wood duck spots.

I've hunted Cotile and Kincaid along time ago . It's not worth the trouble . We used to dust a few Woodrow's on Cotile but it's going to be late shooting .Could he hang around the trees and bank at Catahoula and pick up some srtagglers ? Don't mess with paddling out by people's Spread if you don't want to get shot at .

is the season open? I saw a lot of blinds there yesterday but no hunters. A good number of Ringnecks, some teal and a few other big ducks. Huge place. I think it would be a good idea.

Not until this Saturday. I would be there next week. From Google earth, looks like a couple bridges on 122 that would make easy access for a kayak.
