clhs,

What are you hearing about the proposed district, putting us river teams back with the bayou teams? We've heard some favor it but most don't. I grew up with the district that way (minus Destrehan and ESJ, but we played them in non-district anyway), so I would love to see it come back.

If Mandeville had a "Saint" infront of its name it would make every list lol.

And as far as sps playing Karr, that's the perfect time to play those guys. Karr is never clicking early. They play themselves into shape, where sps is always on their game weeks 1-6....

Very good point. I remember when Munchie Legaux (sp?) was a senior in 09, they played at St. Paul's during week 1 and won by 2. The next 2 seasons, while having vastly superior talent, St. Paul's worked them, particularly in 2011 (final score was 38-7). But, you're right, Karr is the type of team that really picks up momentum as the season goes on (and the weather cools down ). This past season, they showed that they were one of, if not THE most talented team in the state, and were even able to win some of those early season battles that they have been so accustomed to struggle in in the past.

Damn.. that is great to hear (aside from athletic purposes) that Chalmette is growing in numbers. Really glad to see the area recovering and booming in population again.

Yea I was there the same time as both of those guys. I've never heard Deons name mentioned in the same sentence at Kenyon though. Haha that RB looks pretty good though the best I've seen in a while at CL.

Ouachita would be on this list before a lot of list on this one or the list in the OP.

Just Deon's speed, he killed it on kickoffs. Kenyon had speed just wasn't a burner, he just had great vision.

CL vs West Jeff 1996

Here's a 96' video I had put up a while back to show the younger kids how good CL once was.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be the river and bayou team because Westgate is moving down to 4A.

I don't know how others feel but I love it and most CL fans I know rather play the river than drive all the way to New Iberia to play a undefeated or 1 loss team that doesn't even have half their stadium filled. For CL fans after SL, Hahnville is neck in neck with Thibodaux for our 2nd biggest rival. I wish it would be just Destrehan & Hahnville coming into the district though.

This reclassification may be our last in 5A . They're building a new magnet school in Lockport that's suppose to be opening in a few years. CL is only 150 kids or so from being 4A and SL is only around 100 away, both may lose enough kids to end up in 4A.

Just pointing out that you posted Rummel twice, and that if Jesuit, Holy Cross, and Rummel go I can guarantee Bro. Martin goes. Especially if this is for all sports and not just football. No way they would get left out.

I live in Lockport and didn't know this.

I always use to think our district was being cheated having to play the river parishes. At the time they were all very good. But geographically is does fit to be grouped with ESJ, Desthran and Hanhville. How has Lafourche Parish not had a killer team in the past 20 years I will never understand. Thibodaux won state in 89' I think? That was the last primeaux team this area has seen... oh and Don't get me started about Houma and their terribleness

Just got word that CL hired Keith Menard! The sleeping giant may have just been awakened, so this may compute a few years from now .

Yeah they building the school across the bayou from the new rouses. They bought some of the Mcloud land. They haven't started building the school yet but it's suppose to be finished in 2014, and I think I had saw they allocated 18 million to build it. It's a career maganet school with like John Deer, and a bunch of other companies offering programs, but they said they hope to eventually have AP college classes too.

Thibodaux won state in 1991, the bayou teams got some good blows in when they first put them in the district, but the bayou teams good coaches retired or moved on in the mid 90's and we all made bad hires that started the downward spirals. Lorio left Thibodaux, Gros retired from CL, etc. Hahnville was pretty much always with the bayou district that's why their records vs the bayou teams are nearly even, we played them when they were good, we played them when they were bad. Destrehan & ESJ only played the bayou teams when they were down for the most.
