| What's going to happen to white zinfandel in a few years? (Posted on 12/9/12 at 12:44 pm)
When (from observation only) 99% of the people who drink it are over 50-60 years old. Sorry to sound morbid, but when that generation dies off, white zinfandel sales are likely to plummet, since I know of no one from the younger generations that actually drink it. Thoughts?

There will always be a market for sweet, crappy wine. Maybe they can target the Thunderbird crowd by re-branding it "Black Zinfandel".

Oddly enough...in ten years from now, today's 50-60 year old people will be replaced by today's 40-50 year old people. Mind boggling isn't it!

Is something going to happen to teenage girls and people that like shitty wine in a few years?

People who drink wine coolers and mixed drinks in a foil pouch These days will be in their 40s and 60s. They will have blown out their bunions and will sit at home every night soaking their feet in white zin, too embarrassed by their faded wrinkled tattoos to go out to the Poolhall anymore. I figure the stuff should be good for softening corns and bunions.

I wouldn't know because I don't generally drink with teenage girls.

I would not approve of white zin's extinction. Matter of fact, I will do my part in the future to make sure they stay around as long as I do.

I actually know more young people who drink it than older people. In my experience it's almost always an intro type of wine, and those drinkers tend to be younger.

There are some very well done red Zinfandels out there now. And they can get some alcohol content out of that grape as well.

I'm a zinfandel fan. There are some very good ones being made in the area around Lodi, California. Not exactly a place people think of when they think of California wine, but some of the wines are top notch.

As long as there are strippers and people from Alexandria, there will always be a market.
