Picked myself up a bottle of this and I must say it's pretty good. Made with Louisiana long grain rice. I was skepical at first because I expected it to taste like saki but it's actually a very smooth drink.

They just released their sugar cane rum too. And they are supposed to be doing a "moonshine" type liquor at 101 proof.

We carry the stuff at our store and my mom seems to like it, I've yet to try it as I'm not much of a vodka drinker. But it is pretty well priced.

Apparently you can't get this in BR yet but I'll keep my eye out for it.

Those copper stills are sexy looking.

Calandros is waiting on it. Is this the doctors making this?

Also a rum coming out from somewhere around Eunice they told me about.

Try Cathead Vodka. It's made up around Jackson, MS. Pretty good.

I'm familiar with Cathead and I like it a lot. The honeysuckle one is really great.

Buquet Distributing, in Houma, is the only ones distributing it as of now but they will be sending it to Mokler and Southern Eagle any day now. I picked it up at Rouses. On sale for 25.99

I thought all rum is "sugar cane rum"?

I love seeing these new liquor producers. Always nice to support local, when they have a quality product

For sure. I usually like to keep a bottle of Old New Orleans Rum around. I want to go pick up some Vie's Toulouse Red ( LINK)

Everyone loves Titos and they are selling the hell out of it but I just blows the top of my head off for some reason. I find it's got a harsh bite.

What store is that?

ETA: Open house is today from 3-6, wish I could make it. I'll just go on a tour later on.

Yeah, pretty much. Now they can use pressed cane juices, or processed molasses, but it all comes from sugarcane originally.

There is rum coming out from Louisiana Spirits in Lake Charles in about April. They are building a nice distillery right off I-10. Name of the rum will be Bayou Rum.

State is exploding with breweries and distilleries (relatively speaking).

Outside & In in Houma.

And I guess I said that wrong earlier, the rum is made from local cane which is their thing. Local rice for the vodka and local cane for the rum.

ETA: And supposedly, their is only one other distillery using the same copper stills as this Thibodaux distillery and it is in Germany. That's what I've been told at least, not sure if I really believe it andmnot sure if that really makes a difference or not. How good it is probably has more to do with the Master Distiller.

This is cool. And the next step beyond craft beers. I'm glad to see this. I'll try them. The Cathead as I said above is good and many of you like the Titos so why not Louisiana? It's what we need.

Yeah, it's nice to get something like this in the area. According to the bios on their site ( LINK), Dr. Peltier's family owns some cane fields in Thib. so that will be the source. Not sure on the rice.

As I mentioned, my mom really likes the vodka. My gf tried it in a vodka, water, lime and said it was "strong" and she still prefers Tito's for that particular drink. I'm sure it's great in some kind of martini though. Though it's all relative, I'm sure it's good stuff...I need to get home so I can try some for myself lol.
