yes, and sobriety checkpoints have been deemed constitutional.

Seriously, you ever walk into a federal building? You are searched as you enter. It's legal, why? Because you consented when you walked in the door.

If you don't like the idea of drug testing welfare recipients , fine just say that; no need to attempt to make some illogical bull shite case that it's unconstitutional. it does nothing but make you look stupid.

You are correct. Is this to make the point for licenses and more prying of personal information to get said license and tags? If so, you would be correct again. The govt can ask for these things because they supply the highway that you have no right to and can request your information. If I am driving on my land then I don't require a license or tag.

The history, which has been discussed in this thread multiple times, is that this practice A. costs more money than it saves,

And I have stated multiple times it is not just about cost savings to alot of ppl!

That's fine.

Just don't call yourself a conservative. Definitely don't call yourself a fiscal conservative.

What history? Has it been tried anywhere but Florida? The study in this thread hardly leads me to believe its a bad idea for the reasons I detailed.

Exactly, I've even told my own kids I'm done helping them if they use drugs, yet I'm supposed to help strangers who do?

You are wrong sir. These people are voluntarily taking welfare, it is not owed to them. Maybe I am a little jaded but a lot of people on welfare are living off the hard working people because they are lazy and feel that they deserve and are entitled to it.

Welfare is an enabler and I can't stand it. I know a few people who are taking advantage of the system and it makes me sick. You want something...get off your arse and work for it.

What does any of this have to do with mandatory drug testing?

I tend to agree with this. I have no issue with the concept, but if it costs more than it saves it should be ditched.

I guess the conservatives who like to run gov't like a business, don't know much about business.

Drug test cost...$50

Welfare average - $188 per month
Food stamp average - $526 per month

$714 dollars a month savings.

Change the law so that if you fail, minimum two months wait before retaking.

If you fail, then you go to a food bank or you don't eat for two months.

$1428 versus $50....it would only take 1 in 28 to fail to break even...

I'd say this could work..good business.

These people should be held to the same standard as government employees...because they are so.

Ok.

Still not cool with paying even more of my tax money to prevent a negligible amount of people from getting welfare.

I'm a fan of my money. If you say you can pay X, but people may use that for drugs, or pay >X and they won't; I'll take the first option. Every time.

I'll bet you teach your kids not to ask the government for food and housing, yet you help strangers who do.

Dude you disagree with everything I say...no matter what it is.

And by the way, nice rebuttal.

I give you facts but still not good enough.

Wrong, hate big gov. I think the majority of the program should be shut down. However, it is not going anywhere and if we are going to have it lets get something out of the freeloaders. Community service would be a deterrent from accepting welfare, put on your yellow vest and pick up trash on the highways and parks.

I like this idea. It would essentially become a job. Get paid to clean the highway!
