What is it?

Last week I saw a grey squirrel go in a hole on a tree during my bow hunt. It chased something out but didn't really get a good look at it. Few minutes later this little squirrel climbed into into it. It was significantly smaller than the grey squirrel but I'm almost positive it wasn't. My dad says it might be a flying squirrel. Any thoughts?

Probably flying squirrel...We raised a few growin up in central Louisiana. They climb the curtains and jump around the house...till they land in commode and drowned.

Sounds like a flying squirrel to me. They are pretty brazen, and since he was dicking with the grey squirrel that would be my guess. My grandfather put a recliner in a hunting box one time and a family of flying squirrels made a home in it. Friggin' things were a PITA, popping in and out of the chair, running circles around the inside and outside of the house, etc.
