Hope everyone is having a good Friday, anyways, I'm bored in class and thought of this, so who has gotten some looks/is expected to take over after Howard after the 2014 WC?

Guzan, Hamid, Johnson.

This may not be Howard's last World Cup cycle though.

If he played in 2018 WC that'd put him around 39 years old, is it normal for a GK to play that old?

I could see Timmy playing his final WC in 2018...plenty of time for Johnson or Hamid. I hope it's one of those two, never been a big Guzan fan.

I'd be surprised if Howard wasn't playing in 2018. He may retire from int. Before then.

Yeah, GKs can often play into their 40's but he very well could retire before then.

I really like Johnson and Hamid. Both young and athletic and full of potential

I think hamid will be next in line to continue the great tradition of u.s. keepers. I'd also wager that jurgen has never heard of this mexi clown making these ridiculous claims.

The only communication this padre/agent could have had with any member of the usmnt coaching staff is if he took one of their orders at taco bell.

Really? I always thought of him as underrated. He just needs a shot to prove himself.

I like Hamid/Johnson if they keep progressing and become more consistent. I can't deal with the big errors in big games.

He looked great for Villa last season when that dumpy Irish guy went down.

I don't have confidence of the 2 olympians after they failed this year in Nashville.

What happened to the olympic GK from 4 years ago?

I saw Guzan live while he was on loan at Hull City. He's a commanding presence and a good shot stopper. He's not great off his line with crosses and free kicks, but still the definite backup to Howard.

It's still Guzan for now. Hamid has a ton of potential. Still not sold on Johnson from what I've seen of him.

Guzan was the Olympic keeper in 2008, right?

Friedel is still going strong in the EPL at 41, while Keller was in really good form until 37 or 38, so there is a chance that Howard could be our keeper beyond Brazil. But it's definitely not a guarantee.

Definitely seems like Guzan, Johnson, and Hamid are the three guys we will see down the road. Rimando is the same age as Howard.

He's the backup to Shay Given at Aston Villa.
