Has Tyrion the Targaryen been fully explored yet?

With him being a bastard son of the Mad King.

I just don't see that as possible let alone plausible.

Its probably the theory I hate the most, and is really insulting to me. If Tywin even had a suspicion that Tyrion was the Mad King's son, he would have found a way to kill him in the crib. Even if he wouldn't kill him for the sake of his wife, it completely demolishes Tywin and Tyrion's relationship in the books.

All it turns Tywin into is the evil stepfather, and makes their relationship much less interesting as a whole. It would make perfect sense for Tywin to treat Tyrion like he does when he's the product of the Mad King's rape and the rape that killed her, but its not interesting. Its interesting that Tywin treats his own son with such distain and hatred, when he would actually be Tywin's favorite son if he weren't a dwarf or didn't kill his mother in the womb, even with the whoring. He is Tywin wrought in miniature form.

Plus it takes off the heat of Tyrion's actions at the end of SoS, and he needs to somewhat pay the price for his kinslaying.

Yeah, but he still needs to pay the price from an emotional standpoint.

If these books have taught us anything it's anyone any time can be killed.
All men must die.
It is known.

While this is the biggest obstacle in the Tyrion Targaryen theory, I believe it can be reasonably explained

Tywin is one of the most pragmatic characters it the books.

He's not going to outright kill his own son just under the suspicion he's the Mad King's bastard.

He will however prevent Tyrion from having any legitimate heirs or claims to Castlery Rock.

He will also put Tyrion in harms way numerous times and leave it up to the gods to protect him, which it appears they did.

And since its mentioned that Seastar reportedly kept her youthful looks for decades through Valyrian sorcery, is there any chance she could still be around?

Sorry this is like 10 pages back but I just got back from spring break.

Going along with this theory of her still being around theres a chapter where Melisandre sees in the fire a boy with a wolfs head howling and 1000 and 1 eyes I think. Theres also something along the lines of a mentioning the sensation from the vision makes her feel "like an old lovers touch"...Shiera Seastar was Bloodravens & Bittersteels lover/half-sister and one of the great bastards. However, she has memories as if from her childhood in Asshai so perhaps she is the daughter of Shiera & Bittersteel or Bloodraven or the necklace she wears provides a glamour because Shiera had a similar necklace that matched her eyes.

Regardless, this taints Tyrion's and Tywin's relationship. If my wife were raped by a mad man that I already despised, and then she died giving birth to a disfigured child, even I would probably treat Tyrion unfairly. That's not interesting and I'd be super pissed if this theory turned out to be true, since it merely turns Tywin into the stereotypical evil stepparent.

I agree this would be a disappointing turn of events. If it turns out some of Tywins children aren't actually his I think it would be better if the two children he cherished were born from Aerys, thus making Jaime a kinslayer, while on the other hand the disfigured one he despises is his actual child

But what if Tywin only suspected and didn't know for certain?

Now THAT would be an awesome turn. Tyrion comes back from the East as the SOLE heir to Casterly Rock.

Then it's still bad. Tywin has to know Tyrion is of his gene. Pool.

That would be awesome. Sounds like a move GRRM would do too.

re: Crackpot ASOIAF Theories SPOILERS

iluvdatiger is freaking out at the idea that Jon and Dany aren't going to meet this season in the non-spoiler thread for S3, Ep 2.

I have not read the books yet but I know a lot of spoilers from my own doing/my own impatience: First of all, Dany isn't even in Westeros yet by the end of book 5, right? Secondly, if R+L=J is true, I personally wouldn't want to see Dany and Jon hook up...Wouldn't he be her nephew? And then there's the issue of if he's alive or not by end of book 5.

Targaryans wed brother and sisters for centuries. Nephew and Aunt would be a welcome change

For Targaryens is hooking up with your nephew really that bad?

While I would be angry if Tyrion wasn't Tywin's child, I wouldn't mind Jaime and Cersei being the Mad King's children. It would support Tywin's blindness to his children, would greatly develop Jaime's character and motives, and would explain Cersei's madness. It would honestly be clever if he led u down the road that Tyrion was the Mad King's son, and in the end reveal it was Jaime and Cersei.
