I think he means is there anybody in the book presumed dead that is still alive and play a large role later or something.

Right, I mean nothing would shock me, but we all assume that Jon Arryn, Lyanna Stark, shite even the mad king are all dead. But as we've seen people can be brought back from the dead, change their faces, all kinda of shite, so who really knows?

It could well be a red herring. But there are just two many little clues to all be unintentional. Tywin's book comment to Tyrion about not being able to prove he isn't his son makes no sense whatsoever if he didn't harbor some suspicion. (FWIW, the Aerys/Joanna story told by Barristan in Dance probably lessened my confidence more than added to it. It seemed a little forced and just tacked on to fuel online debate. But Martin couldn't have possibly imagined the series' online life when he was writing GoT.)

What I do have a great deal of confidence in is that the mentions of the dragon's attraction to Brown Ben Plum is setting up the eventual reveal of a secret Targ. If we're right about Aegon being a Blackfyre then I don't see him as a candidate. It could be Jon Snow, but I still see Tyrion as the likely reveal.

Aegon is probably more pure Valyrian than Dany or Jon.

So it wouldn't be a reveal.

i much as i follow GoT, this theory is still fuzzy to me

can anyone point me to it spelled out?

I think it could be both. Tyrion the Targaryen explains so much.

-His bookish nature often seen in Targaryens
-His boyhood dreams of Dragons
-His would be half sister Danys saving him from the lions in the pit (fricking irony there)
-Varys and Illyrio's unexplained loyalty and friendship to Tyrion
-It would get him off the hook as a kinslayer

And who are the first three chapters from in A Dance With Dragons?.... Tyrion, Daenerys, and Jon.

hmmmm...

Question: Does anybody think Renly will be coming back. A friend thinks he will and I just can't see it.

No but I think Stannis is cursed as a kinslyer.

I keep coming back to the Azor Ahai prophecy. For some reason I just don't see them following the part where he tempers the blade by thrusting it into his wife/lover's chest. Martin's no shrinking violet when it comes to violence, even by "heroes" and even against "innocents". But that just kind of rings wrong.

So, I'm kind of leaning to that being one of those sort of warped prophecies.

Though I could kind of see it with say Dany in the role the AA and Jon in the role of Nisi Nisi. Kind of bringing it full circle from when he killed the Halfhand.

I also don't but Lysa being one ultimately behind Jon Arryn's death, she was pretty easy to manipulate. Crackpot Theory: Jon Arryn was on to discovering something about a Targaryen decedent, could have been Jon, Tyrion, Aegon, who knows... Varys was probably behind his death and led Ned Stark down the Cersei/Jaime incest road in order to start a war with the Lannisters, Starks, and Baratheons keeping the stability of the throne fragile.

Doesn't either Lysa say in one of the books that Littlefinger and her schemed to poison Jon arryn or Littlefinger admits he was behind it

I thought Lysa admitted to killing Jon but Littlefinger only confesses to putting Lysa up to sending the letter to Catelyn pinning the murder on the Lannisters.

I could be mistaken here.

IIRC, Lysa admits this directly to LF upon his arrival with his "daughter" in tow -

See my edit response to Hugo on prev. page. Varys may have mastered inception...if so, holy shite that settles the Varys >/= LF argument. I always felt Varys was head and shoulders over LF, anyway.

Syrio Forel.

Of all the "who's supposed to be dead, but isn't" character discussions, this dude led the pack for quite a while...I vaguely remember Martin settling his death as fact when all the Jaqen h'ghar=Syrio Forel discussions were ablaze before Dance came out...but I could be wrong.

It's not really a red herring since you seem to be the only one who thinks it

Naw, you give me too much credit. Google "Tyrion Targaryen" - its been around before I even finished the series.

Or I guess you could've at least read the page you posted this troll on...I wasn't even the one who brought it up...this time.

To be clear, as I explained in that very quote, I support the Jaime Targ or Jaime and Cersei Targ Theory even over this one - Tyrion Targ seems a bit intentional to me at this point...in fact, I can definitely see him as a direct descendent of Lan the Clever - or even a reincarnation of him. Plus,

Tyrion being the true Lannister heir would be the ultimate rape of Tywin's legacy...in Tywin's view, that is.
In truth, he may be the best thing to happen to Casterly Rock since...striking gold.

I think most of that could be from a psychological stand point. He is a dwarf. He wants to be in a dream land that doesn't exist anymore. The real world is too cruel for him.

I think his book studies has provided intellect that is backed up by known facts and history and can exert himself with confidence.

On another note....

Is this a plausible speculation?

Absolutely. Additional evidence: His horse was in the stables and only he could go near it, as was previoulsy stated about Sandor's horse.

This also sets up a Gregor vs. Sandor showdown in trial by combat. Sandor represents the faith and Gregor represents Cersei.

He commented in an interview about it and pretty much put to rest any Syrio speculation.

I'm going with Benjen Stark as the guy that comes back in a big, big way.
