Do you see it as good news or bad? (R.Shep on depth)

I was listening to 104.5 in BR on my way to work, and they were talking to, and about, Shep. Shep talked about rededicating himself this summer, and about him focusing on technique vs. atheltic ability. Then afterward, they mentioned that he was no longer a top 3 receiver on the team, that James Wright had passed him up on the depth chart. I know it's only the beginning of camp, but do you see him being passed up as good or bad?

Btw, for those who haven't heard anyone talk about it, they said the first team practiced with OBJ, Landry, and James Wright. Personally, I feel like if Shep is our 4th ranked WR, it bodes well for the WR coprs, but what do you guys think?

He's probably thinking "Why did I come back?"

From a talent perspective, this is no surprise.

OBJ, Landry, Shep and Wright are the top 4.

I think he would have gone undrafted had he left, so he really has nothing to lose. It boggles my mind how he has not been successful here at LSU

I think it's good. Shep is a great kid and ambassador for LSU but he's not an every down receiver. He's a playmaker but a role guy that can run, throw and catch.....he's just not a full time receiver. I can't wait to see Landry get more PT. I'm really jacked to see our passing game.

He worked out with the 2nd unit, I'm not sure that makes him the 4th WR.

It's just the 1st practice, we'll see what happens, nothing is settled right now.

I don't think shep has been utilized at LSU the correct way. The dude has tons of talent. Once his hands are on the ball he's proven he's golden.

Our coaches haven't gotten him the ball in places where he can showcase his talents if you ask me.

Percy Harvin says your statement is total bullshite. Shep with the ball in his hands is just as dynamic as Harvin was for UF in college. His game has translated well to the pros.

He's not a WR that has a skill set like RR and the likes, but he has the talent to be on the field nearly every down.

And think about this, he wanted to declare for the draft. I bet returning does not seem so sweet.

Shep is a "slot" receiver, not a true wide out. In a 4 receiver set, he's there. Think of a much faster, much lighter, D'Lo Peterson..
