Would you trade our first pick for Dwight Howard straight up?

Undecided if I would.
Dwight is a known commodity but I like the idea of starting fresh with a very talented 19 yr old who is hungry to prove himself?
Both will bring in additional free agents.
Davis isn't demanding to be part of his own Big Three like Dwight wants? Yet.
Dwight is only 26, I think if I could sign him for a min of 4 years I would do it.
Could you imaging Dwight and Gordon running the show?
Power forwards and point guards would be lining up to come to N.O.
Thoughts??

If Dwight committed here for 4 years, you'd be a damn idiot not to

That would be the only way.

Is he signing a 4-5 year extension? Is his back going to get to 100% and be totally recoverable from? Is he not going to act like a little bitch in 2 years and want to go to a bigger market?

If the answer is yes to all, then yes.

It won't happen.
Per Hoops Hype today:

The Hornets would consider trading their No. 10 overall pick in the first round of the June 28 draft if the right deal comes along, but they are definitely not trading their No. 1 pick, league sources confirmed Monday night. New Orleans Times-Picayune

This. I think Smiht would be a pretty good complement to Howard given his decent jump shot, plus we'd have a decent shot at Sullinger at 10, whose defensive deficiencies would be masked by Howard. But I highly doubt he would stick around, so no. Plus this would put us in a situation where we would HAVE to amnesty Okafor (which I don't think Benson will do) unless he was included in the trade, in which case it's even better.

I would, if he is healthy and signs a 4 or 5 year deal first.

With that, we could possibly could lure Paul back or have a good shot at Derron Williams.

Paul (or Derron Williams)
Gordon
Ariza
Smith/Ayon/#10 Pick (Moultrie/Sullinger)
Howard

Wishful, offseason thinking I guess. (disclaimer: I don't know shite about the salary cap )

Bring in the best big man in the NBA or an unproven rookie?

Tough call

If Howard got a new deal that lasted 5 years AND we'd be sure he wouldn't whine his way out of town? Yes.

On an expiring contract when he's still making noise about going to another market like Brooklyn? frick no.

I wouldn't trade even with a 4-5 year contract on Dwight because I feel Davis will be better than Dwight when he is in his prime.

So look for Davis eclipse 21/15/2 on 57% shooting?
