he lacks the skills to be dominant when he gets a little older and loses a step...the back issues can't help either.

He doesn't need a step, he's not a guard he can just camp under the goal and post up.

i just don't think Dwight will be dominant once he gets a little older...4 or 5 was probably a bit much. but not close to 8 imo.

i didn't mean losing a first step...was talking more about losing athleticism, especially jumping, which will affect his blocks, rebounds, and dunks.

Davis could be very good for the next 15 years

Or he could be an average NBA player for 10 years. We just don't know. I doubt he's a bust, but that's a possibility too.

More than that. And Howard isn't getting too big and doesn't seem to have bad habits. I think he could have a KG type career as he gets older. (although I agree he needs to improve his offensive skill set to do so)

Shaq put up 13/10.5 when he was 35 and Shaq never took care of his body like Dwight. I don't think it's out of the question that Dwight is still putting up something like 15/10 8 or 9 years from now, and that's assuming that he doesn't improve very much skill wise.

I'm insanely excited to get Davis, but our team has a pretty solid depth and JJ/Gordon/Ariza/Smiht/Howard plus the 10th pick, while probably not going to win a championship, certainly has a chance to do it, especially if that 10th pick pans out. Given that probably only 3 or 4 teams (OKC, Miami, Chicago, maybe SA) have a legit chance at winning it all, that puts you in elite company.

Every team has a chance to win a championship if it gets into the playoffs. Look at the Celtics this year.

You mean the same Celtic team who has competed for NBA and conference championships for the past 5 years?

Theres a handfull of teams who can legit compete for a title... then theres your Houston Rockets, 76ers, Hawks, Jazz. Teams that will always sneak in the playoffs, with no legit shot at winning a title.

The Celtics played two very mediocre teams (because Chicago was decimated with injuries and didn't make it) and only kept up with the Heat because Bosh was hurt and Wade played poorly for the most part. The Thunder would have pushed their shite in in the finals. When building a team, I really don't think "incredible luck" should be one of the key components.

Wade only played poorly because of the Celtic D. And u do need luck to win a championship. Look at the Heat, they only had Lebron and luck and luck bailed them out the Celtic series(no Avery Bradley, Jeff Green, Jermaine O'Neal, Chris Wilcox, and Nenad Kristic).

Not true. Only teams this year who had a chance to win were the Bulls (w/ Rose), Heat, Celtics, Spurs, Thunder and Lakers. Maybe...maybe the Pacers.

I agree you need luck. But you need talent first, then your talented team needs luck.

ya, i'm not saying i think Dwight will be out of the league in that time. Just not the Dwight we know now. In 5-6 years, I think Davis will be the better player. He is a much better player for our team right now.

He may not work out, and we don't know. but I'm confident that AD will be one of the best bigs in the league in a few years. the draft overall is a crapshoot, but the number one pick is pretty successful. Only around 4 busts in the past 30 years...and this is a consensus #1.

You take the deal even if he's only going to play for 1 year if you know he's healthy.

1 year of healthy Dwight has a better chance of winning a championship than a rookie's whole career and rolling the dice.

Dwight on an actual contract is worth 1/10 and anyone else on the roster other than Gordon.
