My dog Blue

Years ago I was working one night and riding through Cat Island swamp. Saw a small black thing running down the road and thought it was a baby hog and punched it. Just before I ran over it I saw it was a puppy. I stopped and got out walking around looking for it. As I went to get back in my vehicle it was sitting by the door whimpering. I picked it up and let it ride with me the rest of the night. I named him Blue since I found him nearthe Blue Goose trail and brought it home. That puppy put me through hell but grew into a very smart dog. On one occasion the kids were playing by the pond and my step dad didnt know and turned the cows out in that pasture. The cows ran through the gate and as kids scrambled screeming that lab ran and cut the cows off. he had never payedthe cows attention before and never again after. I truly believe he was protecting the kids. I have a 2 year old that would climb, grab, pull, and pinch that dog and he would lay there and take every bit of it and only respond with a lick.
This morning the dog followed me to put the trash out. This was normal and he'd usually find a bush or two to piss on near the road which is a one lane paved rd with 35mph speedlimit. Some "person" who was in to much of a hurry came through, ran over my dog, rolled him about 50' and never checked up. Due to the trees I never saw the vehicle and didnt know what happened till I noticed he hadnt made it back up the driveway. I left for work and found him in the road.
Sorry so long, just needed to grieve a little

Sorry to hear. It's tough losing a pet like that. Can't believe the inconsideration of some people.

quote:I always called him Blue Manchu. Kinda like Fu-manchu. Unfortunately I didnt have time or the patience to dig a deep enough grave for him so he went to the same resting place as many deer and hogs ive killed have gone. I do plan on making small concrete spot in the yard for the kids though. Instead of telling them where he really is.
is what the grave should say
I guess im a little at fault. He didnt have a collar.
