Any chance this lives up to the hype? Previews have me on the fence....either a really great entry into the sci-fi genre or a giant dud.

I got some YUGE expectations. Even more so when I saw Luther is in it.

Do you guys think that some of the people going to the theater for this movie will have no idea it takes place in the Alien universe until they make the connection when they see the movie?

Also, Prometheus has many meanings besides a reconnaissance/research ship. Prometheus brought humans "light". Could Prometheus be the introduction of an alien merged with a human? Or...android? Obviously this has to happen, but do you think that's in the name as well?

From the other thread.

Also, did you guys see that teaser with the Fassbender as the android talking about his life and how he feels?

I loved that little thing. Especially when he was sad, that was extremely creepy.

That was the most interesting bit...had this A.I. feel to it - unlike Bishop who was resigned to the fact that he was nothing more than synthetic.

That's the thing. Alien was mind blowing . Although the two fils won't really be tied together, Prometheus still has a lot to live up to. Will it be the game changer that alien was? Will it become the new benchmark in scy-fy thriller?
The effects are simply stunning, but will it have substance and will the story match the cinematography? I want to be excited, but am tempering that based on how well the plot can be executed effectively on the screen.
Lots of elements going on here.

I predicted it would be the best movie of 2012. I stand by that.

Seeing the full trailer in IMAX before the Avengers made me incredibly excited for this.

And to go along with an earlier question, the person I was with had this WTF look on their face, until I explained it was in the Alien universe. So I am guessing quite a few people will not know.

I think it looks really cool. I'm really curious about what happens to the "Space Jockey." I have been ever since watching Alien.

What happens to that thing? He got in that chair thingy and sent out a signal saying stay away.

How did the aliens get to him? What about the rest of his crew?

Looks bad arse to me.

I'm assuming that Fassbender plays the android model that Bishop refers to as "twitchy" in Aliens.

He was talking about the android from Alien but I'd imagine that Fassbender will have the same issues since he's either the same or a previous model.

I posed a question in another Prometheus thread asking how many of the movie-goers will not know it's in the Alien unvierse before going in. And how many will be surprised by that.
