I've lost a little respect for Drew.

He had to know that his offer was going to strain the organization financially. TWENTY-THREE MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR. That's baseball money. Yes, he's the greatest player in franchise history. I understand that. I just think that he showed a bit of...greed, honestly, in not bringing his price down to help the front office.

That's just my opinion, and I don't know all the facts, so if you see the above as a bunch of herp derp bullshite, please help me out. Thanks.

I dont underdstand how people can say this about him. The man is most likely getting together his last contract, why fault him for trying to get as much as he can and what he deserves. He know the frnachise needs money to keep pieces around him but it isnt as easy as people think. There are other ways to make room for more money to keep those pieces. In the end people will see that Payont and Loomis know that they are doing and will put the best team on the field to win.

I am in the same boat as you. I don't know the whole story but it looks bad on him.

Its crazy these guys get paid so much to play a kid's game anyways, but in contrast to the other top QBs over the past few years, he has been underpaid.

but yeah,...look at it like him getting his money helps open the door for all of us to get our's.

He's been playing at an elite level for the past few years while getting paid on the cheap. He deserves it...he's proven himself.

You people who say give him what he deserves don't know shite. He deserves to be the highest paid player but not by 5 more mill. He's great but frick your stupid to think any deserves that with a salary cap. You must want to lose bc we will with that deal. Book it! Saints will never give him that money and I agree. He is in the process of ruining his legacy!

I would be doing the same exact thing. Stop looking at it like a fan and remember it's a business. He has earned that type of money.

saints also took a chance on him and gave him alot of guaranteed money when no other team would. so it goes both ways.

drew brees has enough money/will make enough that if I were in his shoes, I would just get the deal done so it isnt a distraction. whats 10 million when you are gonna end up with 100 million anyway?

He was going to get the same amount that Peyton was going to get, over 5 years. Saints wanted it back loaded and Drew wanted it front loaded. Back loaded serves the Saints' team. Front loaded serves Drew.

Guaranteed money is the issue. Drew wants more guaranteed money, which would put a strain on the yearly cap, but would guarantee an insane payday in case he gets hurt. The Peyton situation will probably make Drew inflexible on this issue. Somehow they are going to have to find even ground. Can't really blame one or the other imo. :fukkinfingerscrossed

You just have to ignore comments like that. And threads like this in general.

Outrage today, in a year these same people will be talking about how they always loved Drew and never doubted him.

Brees' contract will either allow the Saints to continue their dominance or put an end to it.
