In all honesty, Peyton was probably overpaid too and that could be why the Saints dont want to match that contract; Tom Brady should be highest paid qb in league: 5 super bowl appearances and 3 superbowl wins. No qb should be getting paid more than $18 mil a year. Saints should just put a clause in the contract offer that if another super bowl is won, drew can have his $23r mil a year deal.

Time to put some hard numbers up in here.

The Saints Revenue the last time Forbes did their valuations was 261 million.

A large portion of that is NFL television deals, but Local monies are also a substantial portion. Drew Brees is one of the most marketable people in the NFL today. He is bringing plenty of value to the franchise, so he is not being "overpaid", just like athletes as a whole are not being "overpaid", the market dictated the prices.

If Drew was on the open market do you honestly think no team wouldn't offer him 20+ million?

The last seven Superbowls - Two wins for Eli Manning, two for Ben Roethlisberger, one each for Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rogers. Who really should be the highest paid quarterback in the league if the whole idea is to win the Superbowl? Stop worrying about what someone else is getting paid. It is never going to work out for everybody. They can't all be the highest paid.

If Miami could go back in time they'd probably give him 30.

The fact that you are determining their worth by how many Superbowls they've won is not only entertaining, it is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen.

Wow, just wow. It doesn't matter if you're a greeter at Walmart or a CEO at a Fortune 500, yearly net worth has always been a dick measuring contest.

I dont think any team WANTS to pay that, but it's 2012. Compare a TOP QB's salary to 2002..which was

D. McNabb Eagles $15,389,225
David Carr Texans $11,960,000
Jeff Garcia 49ers $11,600,000
Drew Bledsoe Bills $9,501,530

After thinking about this for a little while the last couple of days. I hate to say but I have lost some respect for him too. I hate to say it but I have.

The man has made a lot of money and will continue to for years to come. I didn't think this was his mentality but i guess I was wrong.

I love the guy.. heck i bought his jerseys his book and have season tickets but his greed is leaving a bad taste. I mean $18 mil plus all the endorsements etc. Damn. It just sucks.

Holding out hope things change but i am probably wrong about that too.

Not quite sure what you think the object of playing football in the NFL is then if it is not to win the championship.

why dont yall let it play out before you start throwing this shite up?

I have a feeling all of you will end up looking stupid.

not everything that is publicized is accurate.

Let me hear it out of Drew's mouth and I'll comment on it. Until then, i'd be careful saying you lost respect for him based on what the media has "heard"

I'm talking about taking a pay cut so the team can get better, or at least be as good

So basically, if you are the best at your profession, you should be willing to take a paycut for everyone else?

Im not trying to go political really, but why aren't the lesser players taking a paycut to keep Brees? Isn't it about the team? Are people losing respect fir them?
