re: I've lost a little respect for Drew.

I'm not a Saints fan but I did always think that Drew was the one guy out there who had a real love for the city and the place he was playing and would be the one guy who would give up a few million a year in order to help ensure the team was able to hold on to a guy like Nicks but I guess not.
Just goes to show that we're all idiots for caring about pro sports. Our players would just as soon play for you if the money was right and vice versa.

So you want top tier production, but don't want to pay for it.
Hilarious.

so 19 million isn't paying for it?
You are a fraud. Give Drew Brees whatever he wants, while the team around him is shite?
You MUST be a NBA fan rooting for a player over a team and such

I'm not a Saints fan.
Your argument is wrong anyways, the Patriots paid Brady, and the Patriots have won the most games over the last two years, and got to the SB this year.

it means the same as a troll, Im sure you get that
FWIW, Brady makes 18 million a year so you don't know the FACTS. Brees derves 18-19 million
not the horrible deal that Manning got for 23 a yr
that is a bad deal and you see where it has the colts
since you are NOT a Saints fan that must be what you want, threfore you are a FRAUD acting like what you advocate for Drew is best for the Saints, which it isn't
eta: and this "lost respect" crap is just that- crap.
Brees doesn't care if you respect him or not, and I don't care about that. I care about the team being able to compete with a full lineup, all that I am saying

Are you implying that Peyton isn't playing because he got paid? You do realize that is the point of contracts right? They guarantee players get money whether or not they get hurt, and teams can't just drop players once they get hurt and say see ya good luck.
Why is Brees such a bad guy for doing what 99.9999% of other players would be doing in this situation? All it takes is one shot in the right place and Brees likely won't be able to throw the football again as well, so due to chance he doesn't deserve the money he deserves?

Okay, suppose he asked for $25mm? $28mm?
Have you somehow calculated $23mm is the correct number? The Saints were willing, prior to the 2011 season and are presently prepared to make Brees the top paid player in the NFL. They just can't go to $23mm without obliterating their roster for the upcoming season.
P.S. The Irsays gave a ridiculous contract to Manning. And Manning will never collect full value anyway.

huh what who seriously?
no one player in a league with a salary cap should be getting 20% of that cap in one single year
just because the colts are stupid and agreed to that you think the Saints should?
nope. nada. no fricking way
that is a bad deal for the COLTS...again, love Drew, deserves as much as he can get but Im with the team on this one

Yeah average price of the contract, but its front loaded like Peytons, and like Drew wants his to be.
Nice straw man though, because your point still sucks that you can't make it to the Super Bowl with the highest paid player.

Personally, I don't care what the Saints do, my team is in the AFC.

I know you honestly believe you know the details of the offer to Brees and the details of Condon's position. But you may want to check into that.

Technically nobody has any idea, and I'll be completely honest that I'm at the mercy of the media regarding the contract details.

That's true. I'll be having coffee with Loomis later today, and I'm supposed to babysit for Tiffany and Drew tomorrow. I'll try to get some details.
Cereally, though, piecing together the info as best I can, the current offer from Condon really does frick the Saints capwise for the upcoming season. That's what's a little disappointing and why I think the franchise tag may be a good thing in the end. I think Brees wants to stay and the Saints want him here. They'll still have timem to work something out.

True. Tom Condon is also a well known dick, and there are multiple teams that are known to not even deal with him.

This reminds me of some guys I work with. They care too much about finding out what everyone else makes instead of working and getting more themselves.
My point is I could give a shite how much he makes. I'm not a Brees fan for how much he makes or doesn't make. I'm a fan because he's an elite QB and he was the biggest part of the rebuilding of
all of our favorite team.
What he makes is none of my business. We aren't friends or family so what do I care. Long as the saints keep winning.
I want us to keep Nicks and even Colston for that matter but if we kept them both and lost Drew......then what's the point?

Dude this is his money contract. During his contract year he broke probably one of the hardest records in football and put his team in position to play in the 3rd NFC championship since 2006. His value to the organization in terms of the saints brand is almost invaluable. He has brought in more than his proposed contract. Its sad the saints have reverted back to its old ways.

Let's see how much respect people loss for him when he starts throwing TDs again.
Fans are so typical with this nonsense

my point as well. I know a few times that would love to get drew and would pay the bucks ie the Cowboys. We all know Jerry is is stuck on the Romo experiment but he would drop Romo like a steamy shite to get drew.
