Just saw a quote from a Junior Day recruit:
quote:

"Coach Haley told me they need me to come on down. I didn’t know they were going to a spread offense. They said I fit in perfect with what they want to do."

Does this surprise anyone? Has Mett run the spread or is this BS?

Who was the recruit?

Nice tidbit. We've always been "multiple" and used elements of the spread, but Stud does have a background in employing a spread offense.

Intersting. Spread sets mabye, which I wouldnt mind since we now have a QB that can throw.

If you have the qb it makes sense to spread out a defense and find mismatches..the problem is we haven't had a qb in 4 years that could effectively do it.

If Mettenberger is capable, they will run a much more robust offense imo. Like in the years before the qb situation fell into a black hole.

I don't think it's a bad idea to run spread. 5 wide air raid with mett for a couple of series would be awesome

Over/under on how many people show up in this thread that have no idea what a spread offense is.

The question is: what sort of spread?

What happens if we add complexity back to the offense knowing Mett can handle it, and he gets hurt?

Spread option with mettenberger running the zone read 30 times a game, obviously.

No but really. If there's antyhing to this it will be spread concepts in the passing game. 4 or 5 wide, maybe with a back to pass protect, and let the kid fling it around.

I'd like to see us chunk the ball around and be able to run between the tackles when we want to as well.

I wouldn't trust what any coach tells a recruit prior to signing day.

We better not be running a spread with all the depth we have at RB. We need to line up with 2 tight-ends and beat the crap out of the opposing defense.

2007 offense with randall or liggins coming in on random series for an option/goal line qb sneak.. I could dig it
