Both of these guys are confusing their potential with their performance, not a stretch that they would make similar mistakes and have similar results in the end.

Shep may have dropped some passes, but I also saw him make 3-4 really athletic catches. If his attitude and heart isn't at LSU then I guess he should consider his options.

Shep's latest tweet.

So, make an effort to improve or resign yourself to the practice squad? Someone sounds afraid of the talented underclassmen.

Why do receivers become such cry babies?

That's easy. Because its the position that most relies on what someone else does (QBs/playcalling) then almost any other position.

Getting a handoff easy. Playcall to an O lineman - just block, etc.

Call a pass play? If you don't have a QB worth a shite you are just running wind sprints all day. Got to be frustrating as frick.

Why does Shepard not just transfer? He doesn't seriously think he'll be drafted after catching 14 passes and being healthy all year?

all depends on how fast he runs at the combine and pro day! he prolly has a 40 inch vertical 2. He will test off the charts and get drafted in the 4th or 5th round. His ceiling is still high and that's all the NFL cares about. Test over production which is pretty dumb 2 me.

Shep should realize he's going to go in the 3 or 4th round if he declares this year.

He will get more than 14 balls thrown his way next year.

And the 4 dropped balls were his fault of course.

He's going to tear up the combine.

Correct. I don't understand why some posters can't grasp this. The NFL is infatuated with measurables. Russell will have fantastic forty times, shuttle times, and verticals. He will be less impressive in the strength categories. Nonetheless, I suspect his physical talent will be enough to warrant drafting him in the middle to late rounds.

He could make athletic catches but how many catches 5-10 yards or deeper down the field did he run after the catch. I can really only think of one which is against Florida this year.

Who in the world is giving this guy so much grief? Hate seeing this considering how much he loved LSU.

I love how everyone is so confident in our QBs next year. We have 2 RS Freshman, a true freshman and our likely starter is a player that has thrown 10 passes at the D1 Level.

JJ and Lee were elite 11 prospects and highly rated QBs too.

Can't blame Shep for his disappointment, but I hate to see the guy go out like this. He should just leave twitter alone for a few months.

I can't think of two players and situations that are diffent than Tolliver and Shepard.

Tolliver came back to the same shitty QB, but he was still the same player. Good size, not so great speed, not so great hands. Better stats would not have changed any of that.

Shepard, however, needs to prove he is a legit wide receiver. He has not done that yet, but could next year with a real QB.

If he doesn't want to stay at LSU, he would be better off transferring, rather than going to the NFL.
