Just saw an ESPN clip where a guy was eating oysters with a Dixie. Is Dixie back in production? Damn... I miss my Dixie!

Yes it's still around. They lost their own production facilities in Katrina so they have a contract with another brewer to make it. I think Heiner Brau in Covington is probably making it for them.

Been produced out of Wisconsin for a while. I think way before Katrina happened.

I know the rouse's by my house has about three different Dixie beers you can buy. My friend got some lastnight and he liked it, but I dont remember which one he got. All I've ever had is the regular Dixie with the green and gold label.

It's been in production. I think it's pretty good but it sucks it's not made in LA anymore.

They were still using the New Orleans facility up until Katrina. In additional to being flooded out most of the equipment including their copper tank were looted.

Apparently Heiner Brau in Covington couldn't keep up with the demand after Katrina for their beer and Dixie so they stopped producing it and that is when the deal with the WI company started. It's brewed by a company called Minhas.

I do know that Heiner Brau is making Zea beer now. Maybe once the new brewery opens in Mandeville Dixie will be able to strike a deal with them. I would imagine that shipping Dixie form WI to their core market isn't a great long-term business plan due to freight costs.

I always thought they could have done a better job of cashing in on the microbrew craze by rebranding themselves a bit, and keeping their great old structure nicely intact and updated (it was really going to shite even well before Katrina).

I know they tried to do that with Blackened Voodoo, but it (along with Dixie) never got past the stage of being seen as anything more than a novelty.
