Does anyone here keep their lab inside the house, i hear they shed alot. I know labs are meant to be outside with room to play, but she'll be outside alot of the time too. I've been thinking of getting a new puppy, maybe a white lab. Something good with kids and big enough bite a sum bitch if he comes in my house unwelcomed

mine is 6 months old. she is in her kennel when we are not at home, when we are home she is in the house, she really only goes outside to play and when we go to the park. we go to the camp probably 3 days a week and she runs free there. shes a chocolate and hasnt really started shedding yet.

labs are great inside because they have zero tendency to chew on anything what so ever.

i would imagine if you keep a lab puppy in the house, he will chew on everything...i've been wanting a lab too, but need to work on getting my yard fenced in first

The only way I would keep a lab inside is if I had it kennel trained and were still able to take it outside quite often.

I have one that stays outside and it is the biggest, slobberin'est, clumsy, rolling in cow shite, tearing everything up, messy water drinking, stinking bruiser. I couldn't imagine keeping him inside.

mine has not chewed anything but her toys. just gotta stay on em, dont leave stuff laying around. if you put out the effort, a lab in the house is fine. maybe mine is just different than most, but she is great inside.

Two things more dog owners should do...

1. Walk your dog every single day, for at least 30 minutes. Its good for you and the dog, regardless of breed.

2. Brush your dog every day. Its good for the dog, and your relationship with it, and your relationship with your wife.

As a trained adult they can be great. Just make sure it has short hair. Mine have always had long hair and when they've been in the house for any time period, I have enough hair to make three more dogs.

She would growl the entire time. I hate that.

I have a chocolate lab that is 7 and she has lived inside her entire life. She chewed on a few things as a pup but was not that bad. She is loose in the house all of the time. She is a great house dog. She is very calm and just lays around. It's just luck of the draw. Some are laid back, and I have had others that were bat shite crazy. She is by far the best dog I have ever had. Also does great duck hunting! However, she does shed but I just vacuum once or twice a week.

I keep mine outside 90% of the time. Only time she comes in is at night during very cold temperatures. She's a black lab, and I have white furniture. Needless to say, she sheds like crazy.

I'm trying to bring her in more though to get used to other human interaction (not just me and hunting). Any time we have company at the house, she's obnoxoius and licks everyone.

Man... my dog loves it. He rolls over and lets me scratch his belly with the brush. He gets all jiggly legged when I do his back. He goes all hyper nuts and runs around when you are done brushing him. Just like after a bath.

This is an understatement.

Same here, and is not working on my house and wooden fence.

ETA: Labs also like to fart.

Remember, I've posted about giving up on the dog. I need a friend to take her hunting. Two go out, one comes back.
