Great pizza. I've also had a decent pie at Balcony.

I know he mentioned pizza and beer, but Lazaro's on Banks makes a damn good pizza. I've also been meaning to try Midway, as I am a huge deep dish fan.

Baytiger knows the truth.

It's insulting to include Slice, or Reginelli's for that matter, in this conversation. Might as well mention Italian Pie to cover your bases.

Brooklyn Pizzeria or Cafe Nino is where you want to go.

ratings of others mentioned here:
Wit's Inn: 6/10
Midway 3/10
Ancora 7/10
Theo's 5/10
Tower 7/10
Slice 1/10
Brooklyn 10/10
Cafe Nino 9/10
Reginelli's 2/10 (perhaps the worst pizza known to man when it is not hot out the oven)

I disagree with that. Although, I usually request extra sauce at Reginelli's since they never seem to put enough without that request. Their Tony's Play Pizza is the best .

And only a 5/10 for Theo's?!?

And is the Brooklyn Pizzeria the one in Metairie??

Yes, it is the one on Vets. Calzones and pizza are terrific.

Theo's is, to me, the most average of all pizzas. The last time I went there I got the pepperoni. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it. It's not hard to make bread, cheese, and fattening meat taste good together. But it was entirely average and forgettable. Crust was thin and cracker-like. Cheese was the same you get at any place. Pepperonis the same and not very plentiful.

We will have to be content to disagree about Reginelli's.

I don't get the love for Brooklyn. You must have stock in that place or something. I eat there more than any other pizza place b/c it's quick, easy, and close to work, but it's far from the best IMO.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Went to Ancora over the summer and it was good, but looking for something a little meatier and filling. I'm gonna have to check Wit's Inn very soon, but looks like we're going to Tower tonight. Grew up in this city and haven't been, so going tonight mainly to check it off. Wit's and Brooklyn are next.

I love the Italian salad at Tower much more than the pizza. I wish it wasn't so early 1970s depressed in there. Hope you enjoy.

midway is pretty good and has good beer, but be warned: it's not chicago style pizza. If you're expect that, you'll be disappointed.
