I've also been meaning to try Midway, as I am a huge deep dish fan.

if you've had real Chicago deep dish, you will find it isnt up to snuff

if you've had the deep dish at Dominos, you will think it is closer to that.

for whoever was hating on Reginelli's, its not great, but it is definitely edible. And they have some decent dishes outside of the pizza that others dont offer. Plus he wanted to get beer, and they have one of the best beer specials in the city on Mon and Tues.

That's Amore is the only Chicago style deep dish. And they put just a little too much sauce on IMO.

and it's also way out in metairie so I never go there

That's Amore has better deep dish than the two famed meccas in Chicago: Giodarno's and Lou Manalti's.

Nonetheless, deep dish is, conceptually and in reality, a far inferior product to NY or even NOLA style pizza. It's not worth seeking out, IMO.

Reginelli's 2/10 (perhaps the worst pizza known to man when it is not hot out the oven)

That's pretty harsh. Worst pizza know to man??

A flare for the dramatic, perhaps. Still, Reginelli's, IMO, is not good pizza, even when hot. I find the crust far too thick and dry. The sauce is not good. And it's spread too sporadically usually. The toppings are okay, though, their pepperonis are tiny and not traditional. It's edible when it comes out the oven. But once it cools, it's like eating a brick of cotton. My body quivers with disgust thinking about eating it as leftovers.

Went to Midway last night. Definitely not Chicago style deep dish, which is a shame. The pizza was good, not great. I'd go again if friends were going, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again. I'd rank it behind CB, Ancora and High Hat on that stretch of Freret.

You're full of crap. If you actually know about food in Chicago, you would know that Giordano's is a freaking tourist trap.

And I had That's Amore and Lou Malnati within a few months of each other. It's only natural that LM is going to be at least slightly better than a place in New Orleans.

This was my opinion as well. Didn't want to say anything before you tried it.

You live in Slidell right? My bf and his family live there & I find Neely's pizza to be bland and requires Pepcid before eating. We usually drive to the Pizza Man in Covington for pizza. We're both Reginelli's fans and can't figure out why they haven't expanded to Mandeville, Covington, Slidell, etc.

supposedly they are moving the magazine location across the street to where the WOW Cafe is now ... Not sure why .. guess it is a bigger space.

If this means the end of WOW there then who cares? That place is like a white-trash Hooters.

No no, I definitely said it like that on purpose.

Also, all this talk and no one throws out Domenica? Happy hour every day.

That's true...on a day off when you can get down there during that time, it's a no-brainer for sure.
