I know they shut down in May because they wanted to move more to the center of town. Anyone hear of where and also when they may re-open?

That was a total ruse, there's not a snowball's chance in hell they reopen in Baton Rouge.

Since John Georges bought them I wouldn't be surprised to see them franchised.

He bought an interest in it with a group. I'm not sure if he alone has a controlling interest in it, though.

Yep, Georges bought it a year ago for some crazy amount. He also owns most of the video poker machines too. Can't wait till those worlds collide.

Saying that they would "reopen" was a PR move. So people don't think that the business was failing and after a year or so everyone forgets all about it.

I remember John Folse did the exact same thing with Lafitte's Landing. He said that he was closing down in Donaldsonville and said he was moving to BR. That never happened.

I'm sorry, but I just think trying to open Galatoires in what amounted to a strip mall was just a dumb idea. You can't just transfer what Galatoires is all about to another location that easy.
Kind of like trying to open a Camillia Grill in Destin. Did that ever happen? I know it was talked about.

Yes. A good while ago. It closed about a year ago, I believe.

You have some memory...Lafitte's burned to the ground. Business was good, I worked for him at the time.
You might be thinking of Bitter Sweet. But he is actually headed to NO inside of The Sonnesta.

And Lafittes Landing is completely gone, slab and all.

He does have White Oak Plantation in BR and has for quite sometime.

Is this the one where he is partnering with some out of town famous chef? Any more news on the place?

The word was that Galatoire's would reopen in the proposed mutli-use development on the corner of Acadian/Perkins where the old Wal-Mart used to be.

They haven't even broken ground on that yet, no clue what the status is, so yeah I'd bet on them not coming back.
