I have always gone to College football games on weekends so I am used to tailgating all day before the game, however I'm sure NFL games are different. I have been to the Superdome several times for the Sugar Bowl. Tomorrow is my first time going to a Saints game in the Dome. I plan on hoping on the streetcar and riding to Poydras. Any recommendations on what to do before the game? I wouldn't mind checking out Happy's or Walk On's if they are open. How early should I get down there?

Yeah, no one tailgates for saints games. Just hit up a bar 30 minutes before the game and you'll be good.

Put your wallet in your front pocket would be a good start.

I usually like to get down there around 9:00-9:30 at the latest. Plenty to do around the Dome on gameday.

That's not true. Plenty of tailgating underneath I-10 near Poydras and Claiborne. And lots of fans tailgate underneath the Pontchartrain Expressway and any parking lots between there and the Dome.

What?!?

I've been tailgating for more than ten years, right under the Claibourne Overpass. I have friends that tailgate off of Claibourne and Poydras. There isn't as much tailgaiting as there is in BR, but there is a good bit. If you ever see a fire-truck red Toyota Tacoma with people grilling around it, come stop by, I'll feed you and pour you a drink...
Whodat.

Ya'll are fricking stupid. Did I need to include a for ya'll to realize I was being a smartass? Saints tailgating is the shite, and IS an all day event (of course, depending on game time). I felt like his comment about, "I'm sure NFL games are different" and "I'm used to tailgating all day" were taking shots. I'd take a Saints tailgate ALL DAY over LSU bullshite. I can only take so much of a bunch of young punks running around with their shirts off screaming at the opposing fans and starting shite. About the only thing LSU tailgating has over Saints tailgating is the amount of trim running around, but then again it IS a college campus, so no surprise here. Much more mature crowd on the NFL scene, but I'm older now so I guess to each his own.

Okay... How the frick would someone know you were being sarcastic. Dipshit..
Then you gonna call out LSU tailgaters??

Look this right here, this is you.

Also since 90% of Saints games start at noon, Saints tailgaiting is not really "all-day" like LSU.

The two are totally different.

LSU fans scream Tiger bait, Saints fans scream who dat? But both will break bread with opposing fans.

(I put this in parenthesis just to say the next person who posts in this thread is an even bigger douche)

Look in my post fig. I put in () that it depends on what time the game starts. If ALL saints games started at 7pm, then it would be all day. When the Saints play Sunday/Monday/Thursday night at home, it is all day. I know what time games start. Also, Saints fans don't run up in peoples face screaming who dat in a taunting fashion like the dipshit LSU students do with the "tigerbait" shite. Like I said, to each his own, but it's a FACT Saints tailgating is a much more chilled, mature atmosphere than LSU tailgating. Again, the population of arse roaming around is about the only thing LSU has on Saints tailgating, but it is to be expected due to location. Food is great for both.

Log off chill the frick out and go have a drink.
But you are still a

eta--- I go to maybe 2-3 LSU games a year and at least 10-12 Saints games a year; don't think I'm saying LSU is better.

My original point was that people do tailgate, but you "jumped-stupid" at me. When you should have just said I was being sarcastic.

Re-read your posts, you do come off like an a-hole.

All internet message board bullshite aside, NOLA Brewery will be having a tailgate party in a lot near Loyola/Girod. My group tailgates near there Girod between O'Keefe & Rampart so I might walk over to check it out. If that's not up your alley, Ditcharo's is near like somebody else mentioned, or Allegro's if that's your crowd, or the new Walk On's if you get downtown early enough.

EDIT: For maximum drunkeness get down there by 9. I get down there earlier, but that's b/c we will need to start cooking.

It was there originally, asswipe. I edited because I had meant to type "young punks" and it said "you punks" and I didn't want the OP to think I was talking directly to him in that sense. That is what I edited. The portion about the game time in parenthesis was originally posted. Sorry, I know you thought you got me there, but you certainly did not.

Well, I guess I just took for granted you knew who I was on here and that I could not be seriously saying that Saints fans do not tailgate. My mistake.

Okay, lets start over.

I'm Nolazach a die hard Saints fan, you're who-dat fan also a die hard fan. :reginalddeny: "Can't we all just get along?"

Just a misunderstanding and I didn't catch the sarcasm, but now when I re-read your post and the thirty minute comment I see it loud and clear. Sorry for the douche comment. Looks like we will both be tailgating tomorrow. Though I may check out a few of the places mentioned. Because since the NOcenter closed, I haven't really done anything else but tailgate under the bridge.

My old College roommate who was a center for Southern (no we didn't go to same school, just split a place) is there and its the only time I chill with all them.

So Who Dat, F' the bears... and have a great Sunday!!

I honestly don't know anything about Saints tailgating. I usually sleep in the day after LSU games and study that evening. But, I'm really glad I asked.

For those of you who gave me legit answers I appreciate it, and sorry I implied that NFL tailgating might be different than college tailgating.

Well, you will love it. It was great fun before, but with Champions Square and all the new/future additions it only adds to the experience. Great, great, New Orleans style atmosphere, jazz music, drinking, eating, everything. I'm sure you will want to go back and do it again. I've been going to Saints games my whole life (full seasons, and random games) and I still get chills every time I walk out to my seat and see the field pregame. I think that's my favorite part of the whole experience.

this...I've had some great memories of just sitting there before the game.

shite, I even like that faggy "hey soul sister song" because I heard it for the first time sitting up in the terrace waiting for my brother to arrive about 1.5 hours before the NFC championship game.

Not to mention the recent parking fees to actually have a decent tailgate at LSU. Some people feel it weeds out the riff-raff, but i think it's killing the rawness of the tradition.

As far as Saints Tailgating...better food, better game quality, and way better city.
