I know we're all still basking in the glow of the Oregon victory, but Miss St is the next team I'm worried about (sorry Northwestern). We play them in Starkville, on a short week. So what are their strengths and weaknesses. I'll be in Vegas so I need to know how much should I put on LSU to cover the spread.

I like that they play at Auburn and we have a tune up game at home against NWSU (sorry NWSU). We can start gameplanning that one this week, but they can't really do the same or they will lose.

We're the better team, but we had better not make any mistakes or turn the ball over because that crowd will be loud as hell and feed off it.

Would love to see LSU at a -3 but expecting around -4 or -5

Will be a tough game - passing game will have to show up. They have a good football club.

First, I know a fellow tiger going to Vegas during that game. Hmmm...

Second, why is everyone worried about the short week detail? MSU is also on a short week and playing Auburn beforehand. It's an advantage for us if anything.

Very. If we were at Tiger Stadium, I'd feel much more comfortable. Mullen has turned that team around.

Expect a win but it has the potential to be very close. As was stated earlier, I think more will have to come from the qb position. Another concern is I think it will be very physical, similar to the Auburn game in previous years, which could carry over into the WVU game, so the Thursday night game may work to our advantage the following week.

They are going to be tough as hell, depending on the injury situation by that point in the season. Without Relf, not very scary, just a good defensive team that can run the ball.

We'll see. They were 4-4 in the conference and didn't beat anyone of significance last year.

Strengths:
1. Typical massive Bulldog O-line.
2. Experienced QB, Relf.
3. Excellent RB, Vic Ballard
4. Very good WR's: Arceto Clark, Chad Bumphis
5. Good size and experience everywhere on defense. This is not a team that will just lay down and let LSU run North/South.
6. Confidence. They'll be coming off a beat-down of AU. They'll be rocking the cowbell on Thurs. night in Starkville.

Weaknesses:
1. Loss of LT Sherrod to NFL draft. We'll see how the MSU OT's can handle a speed rush.
2. They have some top-notch athletes, but they don't have elite guys across the board. This is and will always be an MSU hallmark.
3. Their scheduler is ridiculously stupid. Giving them only 5 days after a road trip to Auburn to prepare for LSU is almost like conceding a loss.
4. I am fairly certain the MSU sold their soul to the devil for Rod Gibson's crawling TD in 1999 and will never again beat LSU.

I am not buying into the Miss. St. hype. Even in the hallman days when they actually had some good teams we owned them. If they weren't the first conference game then I would be concerned. We win easy.

LSU secondary will have 3-4 picks.

We'll know more after the Auburn contest this weekend.

One the one hand, their opening performance was impressive and they do appear improved. On the oher hand, we dominated them last year. How much better can they be?
