a kckayak or "Cajun kayak" as it's called. I looked at many of them this past weekend at the Lafayette Outdoor Expo and really liked this one. Will be doing a fishing demo with one of their reps in a couple of weeks. Are any of you Yakkers out there currently using this model? The reason for choosing this one is b/c of the stability. I saw a vid of them walking around in the thing!

I really like how stable they are but they seem very slow. Good luck.

the whole idea of a kayak for me was cheap, easily transportable/easy to carry for one person, and quick

the kc seemed to have none of those but I hope it works for you.. post pics when you slime it

I'm with ya on the cheap, will buy a demo if available... The thing only weighs about 65lbs, so I would consider this light? I just like the fact that I can reverse the seat to a poling platform and get a better vantage point for sight fishing. I'm really looking forward to the demo trip

Amazing, paddleboards weigh 30 lbs and you can walk all over it too.

I was waiting for Gaston to join in.

Now that I have some experience in a yak, I am already thinking about my next one. I think there are three things that are standing out in my mind for my next purchase.

1) Speed
2) Stability
3) Storage

The catch 22 is the speed vs stability. I have to figure out which one is more important to me...

I would consider the jackson coosa, diablo adios, wilderness ride 135, freedom hawk, native ultimate before the kc kayak. They are all easy to stand and fish out of, cheaper and faster than the kc.

I've decided that I will bring a flashlight with me (if I'm out at dusk), but they can kiss my arse over the life vest.

ETA: To the OP, look up BOTE boards.

ever thought about wearing a hat with a clip on light? you wouldn't have to worry about mounting a light anywhere or holding a flashlight.

I got a 3 LED light that clips on your MB handlebars for Christmas, and I'll never use it for that. It seems relatively waterproof and it's free now. I need to pick up a whistle too.

Good idea, you might need it if you ever come across a ruthless gang if kayakers who try to rape you for daring to be different.

Gaston, I saw you on the Discovery channel this weekend paddle boarding around some sharks.

Welcome to the kayak club. They are fun to fish out of. Now that my boat crapped out on me this weekend, it looks like I'll be doing a little more kayak fishing.
