Looking for suggestions. I want to but a 20 gauge shotgun, but don't want to spend a pile of cash on it. I don't want a pump. These are a few I have been checking out, any comments:
Yildiz

I know what you said, but I'd go with the 870 Express for an all around 20 gauge shotgun

I've got a Winchester Ranger 20 gauge that is probably close to 30 yrs old. Never had a problem with it. Probably a pretty cheap gun.

Hard to get around your limitations of cheap and no pump. You really need 3 shots so go find a used semi-auto in a pawn shop. O/U nice for sporting clays, but limited in hunting situations.

I know several people that own the Yildiz over and under in 20gauge, and they all have positive things to say about it. For the money they says its pretty good bang for your buck.

Not really, first off, how many time do you miss with the first two shots, but then connect on the third, most of the time the third shot is a waste, unless you are putting a couple of extra pellets in a cripple. Second with only two shots, I find that I am more conscious and pick my shots better...

Not agreeing with this. I have an o/u and when I compare it to a semi, I shoot better with the o/u and kill more birds.

I disagree as well. Unless you're good enough to knock down triples, 2 shots will serve you well with some practice.

When your shooting sucks as bad as mine, you need 3 shots. That or bring AlxTgr with you. He's a Deadeye Dick on the shotgun. Never seen him miss a spoonie.

+1

I got one from wal mart like 14 years ago for around $200 and haven't had anything wrong with it ever.

On the other hand I bought a $1379 Browning Maxus 5 months ago put 150 rounds through it and the trigger and safety locked up on me and I have to bring it back to get it fixed.

How bout getting one on the first shot then a double on the third? Has happened often to me- especially doves.

My Mom has a 20ga Yildiz...it's a great gun. The lever to break it open is really, really stuff but it's starting to work free now. Shoots like a champ.

How about the fact that a sxs or an o/u points so much better...
