Veruca is far too big of a bitch to be realistic, and is one of the things I approve of in the remake that I approve of is toning her down significantly. I mean all she does is bitch and complain even when things are going perfectly for her, which is pretty ridiculous. What she should have been is had a bunch of arrogance around her and acted like she was better than everyone and had the father and daughter have a good Daddy's girl relationship (which is what they did with the remake), not scream repeatably about everything.

Aside from Wonka and when Augusta's father took a bit out of the microphone, I'd say all the other characters were realistic. Yeah its in an outlandish world, but I usually expect characters to behave at least slightly rationally. Bitches usually act ok as long as everything is going great for them. Really the only time that Veruca should have been bitching is the boat ride (which even then I might have been bitching) or when she wanted the goose.

I guess you are right, I haven't seen it in about a year. I just was thinking along the lines of rich and spoiled and that was the first one that came to mind.
