Handgun for the wife

What handgun do your wives shoot? I've been wanting to get her a little something to carry on the road with her and take to the range with me. Every since they stole the rims and tires off my truck 10 feet from my front door, she's been paranoid. Something that doesn't have a slide too hard to rack, she is very small.

Probably couldn't go wrong with a Ruger LCP.

We have a S&W M&P .45 I love that gun, but a lot of women are afraid to shoot them.

My girl shoots a XD9, but she is deputy with the sheriffs office.
If she wasnt, the gun of choice would be our little S&W 442 5 shot 38 spl revolver.

If she is familiar with working a firearm a ruger lcp is a good choice for carrying or having in a vehicle. If she is not, then she needs to look into a revolver. If she wants something for home defense get her something in a 20 gauge.

Purse gun or just for the car? .38 special hammerless airweight pistols are pretty good as is the LCP for smaller calibers. There's also the XD which has a lot of really good safety features and would make a great first gun.

Can I use this thread as an opportunity to promote the 37mm?
Posted on 1/12/11 at 8:43 pm to Uncle JackD
Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna take her to Lafayette shooters and let her put her hands on some to see which she prefers.

Only if I can promote the Glock 19 or is it to early to promote the pistol used in Arizona?
Disclaimer: If you look at my posts, I always recommend the Glock 19, way before the crap in AZ happened.
