You should probably eat more... unless you had surgery. Then you can't.

Spilled are you worried about being on such a low calorie diet for an extended time messing up your metabolism? I just don't understand the idea of such a drastic reduction in calories when you could be losing a significant amount of weight at 3 times the amount of calories.

Well since you're being supervised medically, then by all means do what works. I wouldn't recommend sticking with that for a very long time, though.

Eh.. I don't know what you're feeling but it's probably not metabolism speeding up. If anything it will slow down when you're eating so little. Eventually you will have to eat more cals. But keep it up and congrats on the losses!

I am by no means trying to discourage you Spilled but most of your intitial weight loss on a diet especially that large of amount is mainly water. I would ask my doctor if being on such a low calorie diet for a long time will cause you body to adapt to your calorie intake and your metabolism to slow down.

Did your doctor recommend this diet because you needed rapid weight loss for medical reasons? I have heard of people being put on these types of diets when rapid weight loss is needed prior to a surgery etc, but I have never heard of these diets being used for long term weight loss.

water weight is a non-issue

It is not a issue as far as health? You do realize it is not possible to lose 28 pds of fat or lean muscle mass in under two weeks right?

Did your doctor say why he was recommending this type of program for you?

Also are you currently eating any solid foods or is it just shakes for the first 4 months?

Just be careful, that's all we're saying. I trust your doctor's supervision and opinion, but it never hurts to ask questions or take things a little slowly. Congrats on the great success so far!

a lot of the views Dr's have on weight loss are outdated.

28lbs in 13 days is a lot, even for someone that is 405lbs. The quicker it goes off, the quicker it will come back.

Most doctors don't know much more than the average person about weight loss and nutrition.

My success story of the day:

I have an event Friday that will require me to wear a suit. I have three suits, and I wore each of them at some point in December and/or January; they fit fine then. Tried them on yesterday - WAY too big. Had to go buy a new one. That's the most drastic realization I've had yet re: how much weight (and inches) I've lost in the past 3 months.

If - I mean, when - I reach my goal, that won't be the last suit I'll have to buy. Good problem to have, though.

Assuming you're not a cheap bastard like me...I've bought a couple of dress shirts for work that fit me better, but I'm still rockin' a lot of my fatty mcfatshit shirts from when I was 300+ Suffice it to say I've learned how to fold them up in my tuck so as not to make me look like a total hobo but it's still pretty funny.

best and worst part of weight loss. So I went from 303 to 225 and when you lose that first 30, you get real excited and go buy clothes, but then those get big. It gets expensive. So word of advice to those with goals set out, don't try to rebuy your whole wardrobe too soon.

Started out wearing 54 jacket and 44" pants, now wearing 44 jacket and 34 pants. But I bought a suit and sportcoat in size 48 that I only got a 1-2 uses out of.

Congrats baw!! That is a GREAT feeling. I have been going through the same thing. My aunt posted a pic of me on FB and a few people commented that I had shrunk. 1 person I haven't seen since I started this journey called and asked if my cancer was back.

Having testicular cancer is what triggered the weight loss program. (I had stage 1 and surgery on 12/19/15 got it all!) After, I could move again. I started eating better and working out.
