Question for you experts...

Do y'all think that artificial sweeteners cause insulin spikes? I've read both sides of it and from what I've seen, there is not much data to back it up.

If no insulin spike occurs, what's the big downside of artificial sweeteners (diet pop, Chrystal lite)?

I avoid them, I've read too much about insulin spikes, causing you to feel hungry, etc

Yeah I know, that's what I'm thinking. I also read it can cause fluid retention on some folks.

I still use artificial sweeteners, just not as much. I may have 1/2 diet drinks a week then 2 packets of sweet and low with my cup of coffee in morning.

I drink lots of diet sodas still.. it never has had an effect on my weight loss. Doesn't make me hungry either. As with anything else, it's different for everyone.

Sodium is far more responsible for water retention than any artificial sweetener.

I drank only water for close to the first year then crystal lite since. No change whatsoever in hunger.

As Hulk said everyone is different but I just imagine some hungry people want to blame it on something obscure like sweeteners instead of Oh I don't know, eating less.

I don't use artificial sweeteners. If It needs to be sweetened I use real sugar. Of course I only drink three liquids and none require sweetness. Black coffee, water and scotch (not necessarily in that order)
A few years ago I tried Splenda but it gave me the shakes.
Equal and SweetnLow have side effects like memory loss and lab rat cancer but I can't remember which one does which.

Thursday water gain drained out fast.

Should be able to have a good Friday but we are doing Mother's Day tomorrow which was postponed last weekend. I need to make wise choices at the restaurant we hit.

Next weekend is the annual office crawfish boil and I plan to eat like the world is ending so I need to be flawless until then.

10 miles today, this getting warm sucks for running. Thinking about frying a turkey or two this afternoon...

Anyone here juice? I've been juicing for 3weeks and feel great and the weight is coming off a lot faster.

Guy at work tried juicing for about 2 days.

Mother's Day delay didn't get me. Went with the grilled shrimp Caesar and it was so bad I only ate about half.
