Everybody on this board undoubtedly has a fierce loyalty to LSU and the passion is what makes Tiger Stadium a great place to watch a game, and hell for opponents.

That being said, you don't see a lot of optimistic/positive topics on this board. Most are based on worries about a variety of things or criticisms about something else. Although these topics have a place on message boards and should be discussed, would love to see more topics talking about the great things the program has in front of it. Especially this year.

Negativity is contagious. I love LSU and can't wait for Labor Day weekend in ATL. Going to be a blast. Geaux Tigers and stay positive.

I'm not so sure about "everybody," but I would certainly say most people. I think it's just human nature after winning 3 SEC titles & 2 NC in 7 years for people to get a little antsy about returning back to mediocrity ... especially after 9 losses in the past 2 seasons.

In a sense, it can sometimes give an overly negative, warped view of the program. On the other hand, it's also a reminder of the vigilence and high expectations that a fanbase must maintain in order to stay on top. After all, it's usually harder to stay on top of the hill than it is to get there in the first place.

And on top of all that, the SEC has just gotten absurdly competitive in the last 5 years or so. There's never been anything like this in CFB history, and regardless of national stature, nobody wants LSU to be the school that gets left behind in the bottom half of the conference.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but I guess it is just us fans. I'll tell you this we may be critical of things of LSU like coaching and fans leaving Tiger Stadium early, but every non-LSU fan that knows anything about football I have talked to always talks about how awesome Tiger Stadium is. That is the first thing people think about when regarding LSU sports, and we need to be proud of that amazing stadium instead of complaining how it needs better bathrooms.

I agree with this. Also, people are seeing a downward trend at least from 2008-present.

people see what they want to see. myself included.

i refuse to believe that Les is as bad a coach as many here think he is.

if this year he doesn't turn it around then i am on the side of change.

but he won a NC and continues to recruit well. his last two years have a bit to do with his first recruiting class being a small one and losing RP.

i don't think Les is the greatest coach ever, but he is good enough to win.

i think we have some young fans and bandwagon fans that think we should never have a bad year. but well shite happens. mistakes are made. i don't know anybody that doesn't make mistakes. every coach out there makes mistakes. but a lot of people here that don't watch other games just never see other coaches messing up.

Technically, from 2008 to present we are on an upward trend. Personally, I'm pretty optimistic about 2010 outside of the QB position.

I want LSU to dominate again. However, just because I want that very badly doesn't mean I have to believe it is going to happen soon. I will let 2010 play out but I'm not expecting much b/c that is the standard they have set recently.

I think you have it backwards. The fans that are the most fearful of Les Miles are the ones that sat through Archer, Hallman, Dinardo and are afraid of going back to those days.

The ones that are too young to remember those days have a TON more patience with Miles.

During the Archer, Hallman, and Dinardo days coming in second place to Alabama and the yearly loss to Florida was acceptable. Just being bowl eligible was an accomplishment. Now our goals are higher, not making a BCS bowl usually means a not so successful year, the biggest concern with the LSU program is becoming content again with losing to Bama and Florida every year. We can't get back to that point in this program.

Isn't that exactly how a lot of the TigerDroppings fans were this past year? I wouldn't even go so far as to say fans because out of 25 people I may have talked to about LSU in the past month, all 25 want Les Miles gone. And it's a rarity to find someone out in public that I talk to that actually likes him and wants him to stay here.

Maybe you should hang out with a better class of people. Just because you hang out with a bunch of ya-hoos does not mean all LSU fans want Miles gone.

we must have completely opposite friends. most people i know say he gets this year to turn it around. nobody is happy with how the last two years went but most people still think Les can win.

i rarely find someone that says this in public and sticks with it when you actually talk about it.

This is the most realistic view I've seen on here.. and it in fact echoes my own sentiments. I still think Les can turn it around.. and I by no means think that we're doomed to finish second-at-best in the West every year. However, one more year like the last two, and Miles' name is mud in my book. It's been painful to watch games.. and while the last two years can be explained by unfortunate circumstances, there is no such case for this year.

The schedule is murder, but we should be able to get past it.
