in years past.

Am I the only one?

This year's class is short on star power.

same here

no cliffhangers, no McKnight, no Williams

plus, I have lost all faith in Les to actually coach any of these guys up to the next level.

for sure...not a lot of big-time players that we have a shot at....couple this with the very early committment of most of the class and things aren't really that exciting this year...

and you are short on vision...this is a very solid class that when combined with last years and the monster class we are building for '11 will have a lot to say about who brings home crystal in the near future.

guess the thing that bothers me the most is all the recruiting service gurus are already predicting a bust for this year, but, talking about the quality of 2011 signing class.

Florida and Texas are way out ahead of everyone in recruiting this year. It is #1, #2, and everyone else. Only Bama is even close.

But LSU's problems have been on the line, and good linemen (both sides) don't get the same hype that an athlete that runs a 4.4 gets.

If this class can produce some decent linemen, LSU can count it a success. Otherwise, JJ will be running for his life next year.

JJ's protection next year will have nothing to do with the lineman that we recruit this year. We have 14 guys on the OL and rarely do freshman come in play OL in the SEC.

Well, to some extent, you are right. Certainly the chance of freshman OL playing in the fall are thin, but a good player contributes right away by adding energy and effort at practice, and this team needs some energy at on both sides of the line.

I look for Les to turn to Freshman for fire, maybe even push for #2 spots across the line.

I am excited about this class...no one epects anything from them, most of them dont deserve to be at LSU, blah, blah, blah. No one expected us to win NCs either

What during Les' tenure at LSU would promote this idea?

LSU's biggest problem is the fan base. Not the best in the country. Go cry before beating me up for admitting it.

short on star power?

5* - 1
4* - 12 (currently, likely 13-15 total)
3* - 13

That's a ton of 4* recruits

For all you doomsayers and (five) star gazers, I've got two words for you: Jacob Hester. Guys, nobody knows with any certainty whatsoever how well most of these high school kids will perform at Division One level until they get here.

the lack of excitement from me has nothing to do with the actual class. Normally it would be the only thing going on, other than basketball, but with the saints I have barely even thought about it. I have been to every bash since 01 and almost forgot about this one.
