If you're heading to the game, look for us walking the sidewalk along Poydras by the Dome between the two entrance ramps. We will be carrying our SAVE LSU signs and copies of the petition for you to sign.

Once again, here is the content of the petition:

We, the students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Louisiana State University and concerned citizens of Louisiana, forcefully request Governor Bobby Jindal and members of the Louisiana Legislature to reform the tax structure of Louisiana and amend the State Constitution so education and healthcare will not be the target of devastating budget cuts in the future.

If you support this mission, we need you! Only the people of Louisiana can make this happen! IF YOU'RE NEAR THE DOME TODAY, STOP BY TO SIGN THE PETITION OR TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR LSU AND LOUISIANA.

Forceful, oh really? I guess my department, who took major cutbacks and was a victim of many job loses, will be handling your spoiled, entitled, and greedy asses when ya'll decide to get "forceful". Higher education is bloated as frick and there needs to be cuts since we are in a fricking recession. Get the frick over it.

"SAVE LSU"...even the title is melodramatic. Eat shite and die.

I don't have a dog in this fight but you may get better responses if you outline which department you are referring to and remove "eat shite and die" type remarks.

Department of Corrections and Public Safety. If you or a loved gets hit by a drunk driver who just got released from prison due to cutbacks or you get robbed by a violent multiple offender because of cutbacks, DON'T BITCH AND COMPLAIN!!! More offenders are getting released earlier or getting probation when they are a danger to the public. Even when they are on probation or parole, they can violate as much as they want because we can't afford to do what we need to do with them. Substance abuse clinics getting shut down, less warrant sweeps, less correctional and probation officers, less electronic monitoring, hiring freezes, caseloads of 250 which makes it nearly impossible to effectively supervise anyone, all due to cutbacks. Every department has been sacrificing so don't think higher education is some sort of jewel that is too valuable to be touched. Somebody go lookup how much of the budget goes into higher education then get back to me.

Hey man, I don't want to hear the media, Mudinmenow, or anyone who is complaining about higher education budget cutbacks be outraged when a sex offender who isn't supervised as well as he should or who got out early commits a heinous crime. Oh my bad, we all should know the bloated Louisiana Department of Education is more important than every other department in the state. Nobody got back to me with the % of the state budget and grant monies higher education gets... I wonder why?

What a jackass...I'm taking graduate courses in the Fall of 2010.

It isn't just LSU I'm railing on, it just so happens the OP was talking about "SAVE LSU". You go talk to people on the bayou and all you hear is bitching and moaning about closing Nicholls. It is the same with welfare programs, you give them something and YOU CAN NEVER TAKE IT BACK. All of the entitlement is hilarious. Take your cutbacks like a fricking man.

how much is the budget cuts for the department of correction and public safety?

everything I have read saying health care and education are being the hardest hit.

The only thing I can find about budget cuts for department of correction is they are going to buying bulks foods to save money.

What departments of the school are you upset about getting cut back? I also thought a final decision had not been reached.
