Loaded the Yeti on Friday morning with ice and beer. Tailgated all day Saturday before and after game, periodically adding beer. Emptied it out yesterday at 1PM.

Yeti is by all means a high quality ice chest.

But, if you bought a Yeti because it is a high quality ice chest, your priorities are wrong.

That's like buying a Rolex because it keeps good time.

Yes Fred. Yeti hating is nearly as glorious as Lebron hating.

Yeti's have three main selling points that appeal to buyers. All these people testing how long they keep ice, etc are wasting time and energy. The reason people buy them are below.

1) People will think you are a billionaire.

2) They are heavy, so people will think you are strong when you carry it around.

3) Bears. No matter if you are in the woods, at the beach, at a tailgate.... it doesn't matter. There is always the threat that a bear could show up. And if I know anything about bears, when they show up, the first thing they're going for is your cooler. They have a natural attraction to containers with cold stuff in them. It's science. I bought a K2 before and I can tell you, I don't trust it against a bear. My money's sticking with Yeti from now on.

Our tailgates have been bear-free since 2009.

I'm a believer.

if a yeti can't keep king ranch from grabbing a miller lite, i'm not sure it can protect a bear from getting what it wants either. I just think bears are on the yeti payroll which explains the costs of these damn things.

That's crazy talk. Anyone who's dealt with bears will tell you they can't be bought off.

Sarcasm is an art form that takes time to really learn how to appreciate.

But in all seriousness don't even pretend like the reason a lot of people buy these isnt' to keep up with the Jonses.

Not saying everyone buys them for status. I have a K2 that was a casting platform on my flats boat (a lot cheaper than getting one fabricated and it was a gift). But, a lot of people buy them to look cool. They don't want to look poor showing up at the camp with a $40 cooler from walmart.
