Getting ready to book a hunt 10-14 day hunt in Alaska for 2017. i have it narrowed down to 3 outfitters. an option one of them gave me which i hadn't thought about was hiring a videographer to film the entire trip. cost for videographer is $4K. this will be a back country backpack hunt in the Yukon or NWT Mackenzie Range where i will hunting two species. at first i was like hell no. but the more i think about it the more i want to do it. it would be great have this trip documented in a legit HD video. what say the OB?

I would do it if I was hunting big 5 in Africa or something like that. If you have the money though, why not?

this will be the first of 4 trips for a sheep grand slam (praying it's only 4 trips). so if i do it for this one im going to do it for the other 3.

Sheep grand slam. Wow. That's awesome and a dream for me. I hope to hunt sheep one day but I will have to draw the tags. Applied for 5 years so probably 20 more to go.

What is your budget like for this endeavor? All 4 with travel and taxidermy is way over 100k right?

I would for sure. I've actually thought about having a photographer buddy of mine follow me around during a yak trip one day. But that won't cost me 4 grand.

Make sure everybody has a good camera and just take a bunch of pics, when you get home put them all together and use the best ones to make a picture book on shutterfly, I think it tells the story better and is so much more convenient to show people, I made one for my hunt and it turned out great, I could send you a link if you want to look at it

i wish that was the case. for all three outfitters it is 1 guide x 1 hunter. the videographer would be there for one thing. to document the trip.

ETA: your gallery is awesome! tells a phenomenal story

i try to think about that as little as possible. but yes, my estimate is a goodbit more than that. just the hunts themselves
dall- 22 to 25
stone- 35-45
bighorn- 35-45
desert- 55

that doesn't include
travel (2K)
tips (5-10% hunt cost)
Shipping and Taxidermy (1-2K ea)

no wife or kids for me in the near future

I probably wouldnt, you could buy a gopro and dslr. Ton of batteries and memory cards and take pictures/videos yourself. Especially if going with friends/family. Share the load and video each other.

If you are going by yourself, well I guess you could, but Id question why you want that experience by yourself.
